Educate a NOOB, what is "leak"???

Ok, sorry for the ignorance, but new to this Android thing. What is this "Leak v3" I keep reading about vs. OTA (Over the Air)...???

OTA is over the air, official OS or Update pushed from Verizon to your phone. Leak is an early or leaked release of an OS or Update. Folks are bummed they (we) leaked as it has so far prevented us from Rooting, which is like jailbreaking or getting admin rights to the OS.

before the 2.1 update actually went OTA...... there were some leaked versions that got out....... people without patience downloaded the leaked versions of 2.1........

and now EVERY one of them whole heartedly regrets it

No I don't. I'm fine with my leak V3.

I have no regrets. I have no intention of rooting my phone, so the way I see it, I got all the benefits of 2.1 a few months early. My phone runs great on leak version 3.

That's not true. I am very happy with V3. Don't have any of the bugs that others, including OTA have. I don't care about root. So I DO NOT regret it.

Since the 3rd Leak was actually the OTA, the only possible regret that anyone can have about using a leak, is that they cannot achieve root access. That being said, most, if not all, of the leakers who applied the leak AFTER version 1 was released did so knowing that the Eris had already been rooted. So we decided to leak vs. root.

So, I have no regrets on v3.
