I am new to the Droid phone and was a big fan of it until i got the update. It seems like my phone has a lot of lag and doesnt respond when i try to make phone calls. I will tap on the number i am trying to call and it does nothing, then suddenly it will place the call. Very frustrating when I am trying to place a call and it calls some one else because of the screen lag.. programs i have installed are

shapewriter keyboard
Advanced Task Killer
Three Days Grace Ring Tones..
and thats it.. Any one else having this issue? really makes me HATE my phone that I once loved.. Please help!!!

Try backing up and hard reseting the device

I had the same problem with my new Hero - a couple of times it took TEN MINUTES to react when I hit the 'call' button. Looked like nothing was happening, and then 10 mins later it would start connecting the call. Other times it was more like 15 secs. And I didn't have a ton of stuff running, just gmail, my browser and facebook.

Fortunately it was a new purchase so I just returned it. It came with 1.5 (I think) but upgraded to 2.1 straight away so I can't compare the two versions.

My first Android experience, and not a good one. Not sure if its a 2.1 issue, or something HTC/Hero specific.

Am i missing something here?

I've been looking on here and on HTC's website . . and i can't find the 2.1 update (or a link to it) anywhere!

How have you all got it :(

Set your phones date 1 month ahead of time...This should trigger an update check. First you will receive a small update and phone will restart.

When restarted go to settings about phone and select updates and check for updates...Now you will get the big update.

PS. Remember to set the date back in between the 2 updates.

@CaptainSi: The update shouldn't touch your SD card; the update is downloaded and installed from the phone's internal memory, according to people who have already done it.

There's no harm in backing it up the PC though.

And it depends what goes wrong really. A few people have been unable to boot after the update failed, but were able to reinstall the old firmware then update.

@Slug: I think I'm going to miss the days where everyone on 2.1 was on Sprint....

Me lagging also pretty bad and what I read from comments to game I used to play am not the only one. Slugs is not enjoyable anymore :( ... (Replica Island is actually faster to the point you start to use the other robots)

Calling someone takes ages. When I accidently press something like more times call button since the first one didnt work. I call the person few times in a row. Once twice at the same time with some error message...

Even the apps menu scrollls slow.

Suspecting the htc sense, but since home switcher doesnt show the stock home app cant change it :( . For the scroll menu helped to change the wallpaper.
