Popped into a Voda shop in Hove, East Sussex last thursday and the guy said "out of stock currently, coming in 2 days", thought i'd order the upgrade online yesterday as I had a spare 5mins to do it (and the shop is 20mins walk from work!)....got the e-mail today:
"Unfortunately we have suffered a surprosingly high demand for the HTC Desire, which means that it`s unexpectedly out of stock

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. We hope to have further stock available within 7-10 working days and will contact you again once your order has been dispatched "

 I have patience, but I might take the order number into the store tomorrow to see if they do have any in stock!

I received the same email when I upgraded online and then, two days later, I received another email saying that it had been dispatched. I imagine that the ten day thing is a worst case scenario which they use so they don't make a promise they can't keep.

I imagine that you will probably face a similarly short delay but it is definitely worth the wait.

I had EXACTLY the same situation. I suggested to the online ordering centre that I could pick one up from the store. Unfortunately the one that was on back order from the online depot was the ONLY one I was allowed to have, as this one was registered to me. It was irrelevant anyway as I tried 5 different Vodaphone stores, and they all were out of stock.

So you'll probably have the same wait I did. However that wait was only about 7 days. And trust me! It's well worth it. The Desire is an awesome piece of kit. The wife keeps taking the piss as I NEVER stop playing with it LOL.

Be patient. Like I said, it's worth it.

Your in for a long wait :(. I ordered mine on 03-6-10 and still nothing.

blimey that is long

I have just received the following email from Vodafone

Hello,
Firstly let me thank you for your patience over the delay in receiving your handset.
We’ve received news that the HTC Desire will not be available to order until the end of June.
Because of this news, we would like to offer you the opportunity to order the HTC Legend as an alternative device.
Should you wish to take advantage of this offer, we will reduce your monthly line rental by a further

I went to 9 different stores in Amsterdam and it was sold out in 8 of the stores except for the last store that I went to, obviously. They had 2 left in stock and the guy who helped me told me there was a 16 week queue. Not sure if that is true though..

The reason for the long queue list according him was because, Samsung, who produces the screen for the HTC Desire, is having some difficulties.
