Screen / Scene Wiped Out

I have not had any issues with this phone until recently. Suddenly now icons are displaying incorrectly, I have had to uninstall / reinstall apps to get them to work and now my main 'Home' screen / scene that I created with all the apps, shortcuts and widgets that I use has just wiped itself out and nothing is displaying (i.e. no clock, no widgets etc) just a blank background...all other screens are completely empty!

Anyone else having this problem? My other scenes that I edited seem to be ok, but I did not touch anything, went to check my phone for messages and found my 'Home' screen (custom created one) completely empty.

I can re-populate (also I restarted the phone and updated data services etc to see if that would fix it), but the point is it should not have occurred in the first place and I don;t want to make a habit of re-customizing screens, only to have them 'blank out' and start over again.

I had this happen about one hour ago - on an HTC Eris about 5 days old. Rats, I had done quite a lot of customization - lots of bookmarks organized into folders.

All seven of the screens went to the default wallpaper, with zero widgets on each page (7) of the scene - almost as if the current scene was replaced by the HTC pre-installed scene "Clean Slate"

I am 100% sure that I had saved my customizations to a new scene; toggling between other scenes (previously saved) and the one I wanted didn't bring anything back.

I'll poke around to see what I can find out; after I re-populate everything, I'll be sure to save several copies of the same scene - hopefully that will prevent a 100% wipeout.

I also had this happen a couple of days ago; I went to save my current (unsaved) scene as Custom1 in preparation of setting up a scene for work. At some point, my "saved" scene was wiped out, to be replaced with blank screens, and even the previously saved Custom screen was blank. I don't dare create or save another scene for fear of losing all my work.

I wish I would of read of this problem before I did the same thing:mad: I was thinking of saving it too, good thing I didn't try that.

I was wondering if there is a backup app that saves personal settings along with files and if there is what is the most reliable??

I've had my Droid Eris for 24 hours and this has happened to me twice. Frus-trate-ting. Has anyone figured out the cause and/or a workaround? I love this thing otherwise so help wipe this ONE bad taste of my mouth!

When it happened to me, I had just awakened - so I can't remember exactly what I was doing when it occurred. I wish I did, so that I would know what to avoid! For sure, though, I was not using the Scene menu (Settings -> Personalize -> Scenes) when it happened to me, though.

That was the only time it has ever happened to me, and I got the Eris on drop day (Nov. 6th) - right now I have about 10 copies of roughly the same "scene" configuration saved with slightly different names.

When I made "backups" scenes, I would save my current scene, go and delete a shortcut and then put it right back so that Sense would mark the current scene as "unsaved".

"fullcity"'s report seems to indicate that the bug can be expressed by using the "save scene" functionality... so, what I did could actually trigger the bug. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any way to back up/restore HTC Sense scenes to the PC/SD card... so, I took that risk and made multiple scenes.

Haven't had the problem since the first time though...

I had this problem a few times when I got my Eris this past Friday. I believe the cause of the problem for me was jumping from the scene selection menu straight to the homepage via the home button. If I select a scene or save a scene then back out of the set of menus using the back button (pressing it 3 times, to go from Scenes to Personalize to Settings to Home), then this problem no longer arises for me. Hopefully, this is also the cause for you, and you can avoid it accordingly.

my answer may not be helpful, but i will just add, this happened to me on day 3 of the phone. i woke up and checked for missed notifications, and all my icons were gone...i mean - everything. i tried going back to my saved 'scene' but it didn't work. i powered down the phone and started it up...still nothing. i kept pressing my saved 'scene' and eventually it came back. it hasn't happened since...not sure why.
