Droid X, Galaxy S, or Nexus One

First, a little history. Had the Cliq for two days. Didn't like it. Kinda slow, didnt like the Motoblur interface, just didnt feel right. Took it back, got an HD2. Loved the phone itself. 4.3" screen, Dual LED flash, pretty fast, etc. Kept it almost two weeks. Really liked the phone itself, but Win 6.5 was a dealbreaker.
I have no contract, and am open to any carrier suggestion except AT&T.
As you can probably guess based on the above phones, I prefer Tmobile. I work on a military base that has a "bring in a camera phone and we'll fire you" policy, so I like the ability to remove Sim card from my nicer smartphone and put it in a crappy noncamera basic cell phone and not have to pay for an extra line.

Have been driving my wife and coworkers insane last few weeks researching and discussing current and upcoming super/smartphones.
Need you guys' help and expertise in choosing between the above lsited phones. Leaning towards the Galaxy S, if anyone can convince me Samsung will give us Froyo in the next few months.
Droid X looks amazing, but I detest Verizon. Expensive plans, just don't like 'em.
Nexus One is starting to get a little dated it seems, but has Froyo NOW.

Anyway, this is my dilemna. Sorry for the looong post, but really need help between these phones. Took me a long time to narrow them down.

im in somewhat of the same boat. ill prolly be going with a Samsung Galaxy S or Vibrant as t-mobile is calling it. i say this because with how many galaxy S phones are out there and all the different models it would be android death for samsung if they didnt support this phone. i would go for the nexus if it was sold in stores but i dont want to pay 500 for a phone that is almost 6 months old and doesnt have as big of a screen or as good of one as the SGS. i also dont want verizon so i woldnt go for the X im on a family plan with my whole family and would cost me a lot more if i went to Verizon. and i know what you mean about bugging the wife my fiance just rolls her eyes everytime i start talking about phones lol

the EVO does look amazing, but Sprint's coverage around here is not good. I like Tmobile, so Galaxy looks pretty good so far. 03machme- you know you can still get hte n1 from google website for Tmobile for 179.99 w/2yr agreement, right?

Same boat here as well. Minus the Droid X. Coming from a CLIQ, it's not THAT bad, but I really want a bigger screen/faster phone. The Nexus is already looking dated, missing pretty much standard features in phones now (720p, HDMI, front-facing cam, etc). But it has Froyo.

The SGS looks great... but it's missing flash on the camera(?!), a front camera, and it has Samsung's "SmartLife" or "TouchWiz" or whatever. Oh God. I mean sure it looks nice... but if I wanted an iPhone app explorer I'd get an iPhone. I really don't like intrusive UIs like Sense and whatnot, which is why Blur is okay. It's just widgets and some nice additional features (did you know there's a legit photo editor in the gallery?). But yeah I like to be ahead of the loop.

Then there's the rumored HTC Vision (aka Sidekick Twist, Project Emerald, etc.) with the alleged dual-core processor and 4.3" screen and what not, headed for T-Mo sometime this fall. I'm pretty much holding out for this one. But my fear is Sense UI... or worse... Espresso that was used on the myTouch Slide. Looks hideous.

I haven't really helped you much, have I? I'm sorry, haha. I guess my advice would be to try and hold out a few months for that new HTC monster for T-Mo. You'll get the screen of the HD2 you love, plus Android. Can't lose there.

Selecting a device is always about finding what suits you best. Without knowing your needs/wants it's impossible to make a meaningful recommendation and you really just need to compare the features/specs for yourself. Check them out in person as well (where possible). Everyone has their own idea of what's acceptable and what isn't when it comes to size/weight/"build quality"/etc.

I can guess a bit based on what little you've posted above. If getting OS updates fast is a priority then the N1 is definitely the one to go with. Similarly, avoid devices with a skin (Sense, MotoBlur, etc) since they will, theoretically, add to the time it takes to adapt the Android source for the skinned device. If you want more feedback then we really need to know more about your needs/wants.

You really should choose your carrier first based on coverage where you need it. It sounds like you've already narrowed down that selection a bit.

Agreed on the carrier first bit. Verizon is best in my home area, but if I'm home, wifi makes it a nonissue. (And I still detest Verizon)
All the carriers get great signal in my surrounding cities, so tie there. I really would prefer Tmobile because of the sim card switching ability, but thus far besides the possible galaxy s Tmobiles phones are rather uninspiring.
