We already have wired tether without root and without additional software. Just search the forum for "Tether Natively" and a how-to will be listed. The only thing you have to "install" is the driver.

i had used it on windows for work to access the internet at remote sites to install/download what ever i needed. i just dont want to have install drivers and uninstall them. i just want to plug in and go.

You never know...Big Red might let Wifi Tethering into Froyo for the Incredible! I wish!

i dont understand that. when i got my first smartphone (the vx-6700 or something) i was able to use it as a modem only having the unlimited data package, then i switched to alltel for a few years and the few months i was on Verizon with my windows phone i could still use it as a modem. so, the only thing that changed was my phone and not my plan, so why wouldnt i be allowed to do it with the inc? i could just as easily get a WM phone and do it, it makes no sense to me!

Because Verizon offers "Mobile Broadband Connect" for the Incredible, for wired tethering. And because if they find a way to make more money of of a feature, they will.
