Weather and Location not updating

I am using the HTC Clock widget that also shows the weather (default widget on home page) but it doesnt update the location or weather. I have turned off GPS and background sync to save battery and I am assuming this is the reason why it isn't updating. Can someone confirm this is the reason? BTW I absolutely love the phone!

Seriously?

Yes if you turn off the GPS it can't find your location!

It won't sync if you turn of the sync!

I don't think the part about the GPS is necessarily true... I think the phone still finds your position by using cell tower triangulation. Disabling background data and syncing probably did it.
