Just installed. The only reason ive stayed with sense is friend stream, but this has changed the game. Thanks for keeping me up tonight setting up a new home screen replacement. I really want landscape home screen bad.

Nice app. Widget is cool. Installed on Incredible fine.. LG doesnt get alot right imho. But this is nice.

Thanks.

the one thing i do like about this is you can send fb messages through it, and i'm pretty sure i can't do that with friendstream. correct me if i'm wrong. i really did not like the interface, though, it does not appear to be touch scroll? also, it ate my battery during the sync process. like, a lot. and i don't use twitter, is there a way to get rid of that tab? not for me, i don't think. do wish i had a way to get/send fb messages with friendstream, though. oh, well.

On the FS widget, click in the text box. When it expands in the lower right corner are some gears. Click the gears and you can choose twitter, fb, or both. I use it all the time to update my facebook. I then use tweetcaster if I want something to go to twitter.

i'm sorry, no, i didn't mean how to make the friendstream widget only show fb, that i have done. i meant i didn't see how to remove the twitter tab from the socialite widget. sorry for the confusion.

i also still would love to know if there is some way to send fb messages via friendstream...i don't think there is. that is what i did like about socialite. you can send messages. but again, it does not seem to touch scroll, and i love that about my fs.

I can't speak to the socialite widget. I only used it for a few hours and decided to go back to friendstream. However, the method I described will allow you to SEND Facebook status updates. I do it daily from the friendstream widget and they do not go to my twitter account only facebook (since that is how I set it with that method.) From within friendstream on the text box is the same set of gears that will allow you to choose if you want to share with facebook or with twitter or both. I just tested it (since I never use the app itself only the widget) and I updated my facebook status from the app. You can add comments to someone else's status by tapping the status and it pulls up a page with comments.

Unless I'm just totally missing what you are trying to get Friendstream to do....then in that case my apologies....

yes sorry we are not talking about the same thing. you are talking about updating my status. yes, fs allows you to do this. i'm talking about sending fb messages. you know, in your fb message folder. private messages to fb friends. friend stream does not seem to allow this. but socialite had this function available. i love friend stream but would really like to be able to access and send/reply to fb private messages.

Gotcha. I am pretty sure you are right and you can't do that with friendstream. I remember vaguely that I read somewhere that FB doesn't allow "unofficial" apps to access the private messaging system. If that is true (and it may not be) no 3rd party apps are going to allow that. The offical FB app just recently began allowing it.

understood about the other apps, but i did notice on socialite, for the 10 minutes or so that i was using it, that it *does* allow for private messages. so that was a big plus for this app (socialite) over friendstream. however, socialite does not seem to use touch scrolling, and i love that about friendstream; also, socialite was pretty slow (to me) to sync and seemed to eat my battery doing so. i might try it again later, but for now, i think i'm sticking with fs.

I think only sense apps scroll, though I did read an article (I'm a voracious reader) that one of the non-sense widgets will now scroll with LauncherPro, but that it was buggy and still in beta. So maybe that limitation will be a moot point in the future. I agree the socialite app didn't appear to be very peppy. I played with it a little as a novelty but didn't even keep it on the phone. Though now reading this thread makes me want to put it back on and play with it again....i get bored with the same ol' stuff, I like to change it up.

This is the Social Networking App – LG Ally’s Socialite app. The Socialite can work on the Android phones running Android 2.x. Such as Moto Droid, HTC Incredible and HTC Desire.

You can download this Socialite app by clicking on the following link:

RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

The Socialite app is essentially a dual Twitter/Facebook machine. It has a full screen widget and a much nicer UI than your stock Facebook app. Definitely worth a look.

Instructions…

1. Download Socialite from your phone's SD card.
2. Once it finishes, tap on it to install.
3. Done!

The widget is really cool, people should try this.
