Best Buy and new 2 Year Plan Help

So I already have met my 1 year of current contract for $75 off next phone. My next renewal is up for October to complete my 2 years. However, I was curious if I go into Best Buy and get the White Evo- can I still pick it up for new 2 YR contract or will they tax on an additional $75?

Just curious if anyone has had this experience...

I'm not sure what this $75 off is, but I'm a Sprint Premiere customer, so I am able to upgrade my phone every 12 months. I just picked up my EVO from BB about a week ago... I'm not really eligible (1 year anniversary) until July 1, but they were able to "move up" my eligibility date because I was within 2 weeks of my eligibility date. So if you're eligible for an upgrade with Sprint, BB should be able to honor it.

Not too happy with my thread with Sprint... Here it is... I will come back here after I try and get my EVO for $199 since I have a premier line on my account.

06/30/2010 04:22:30PM Marc Aaron Sogoian: "OK- So I would expect to pay $275 for the Evo at Best Buy then? As for the primary- that doesnt seem correct. My primary line should be the 6492 number. How did it change?"

06/30/2010 04:23:21PM Agent (James S.): "The retail price of the phone is $449.99 and you will get $75 discount on that."

06/30/2010 04:24:17PM Marc Aaron Sogoian: "So no $100 rebate? We got it on the 2026"

06/30/2010 04:24:41PM Marc Aaron Sogoian: "so confused. Sorry."

06/30/2010 04:26:26PM Marc Aaron Sogoian: "Right now they are selling
it for 199.99- Thats 449.99 MINUS $150 (new 2 year with 2 year agreement) which is $300.00. Now they minus the rebate of $100 which brings it to the $199.99."

06/30/2010 04:27:02PM Marc Aaron Sogoian: "So wouldnt I just have to pay $75 more for a total of 274.99?"

06/30/2010 04:28:32PM Marc Aaron Sogoian: "sorry I am not getting it"

06/30/2010 04:29:55PM Agent (James S.): "As you are only eligible for $75 discount on any phone as the retail price of the phone is $449.99 and you get $75 discount on that. As you are concerned of that best buy is selling the phone as $199.99 with 2 years contract, that you can purchase new phone and add new line on your account and another thing is that $150 rebates which you are not eligible for this, you will be 2010/10/01 after that you will be able to get the phone as on $199.99

06/30/2010 04:32:24PM Marc Aaron Sogoian: "OK. So now $374.99. On 10/01/2010- $199.99. So its actually $175 difference to wait- not $75? Did I get that right?"

06/30/2010 04:32:54PM Agent (James S.): "That is correct."

06/30/2010 04:33:38PM Agent (James S.): "I am sorry that you have to wait for upgrade."

06/30/2010 04:34:06PM Marc Aaron Sogoian: "The Premier e-mail I got a day or so ago threw me off..."

06/30/2010 04:34:43PM Agent (James S.): "Premier customer gets the 1 year eligibility for the primary line."

06/30/2010 04:34:45PM Marc Aaron Sogoian: ""Your next new phone on your primary line is always just a year away- not two.""

06/30/2010 04:36:30PM Agent (James S.): "You wish me to change the primary number now which is 714-483-2026."

06/30/2010 04:38:20PM Marc Aaron Sogoian: "Not sure- what does that do? Honestly, the 6492 was always my primary I was pretty sure. Pulling up an old bill."

06/30/2010 04:39:59PM Agent (James S.): "Is there anything else I may assist you with?"

06/30/2010 04:40:26PM Marc Aaron Sogoian: "What does changing my primary to the 714-727-6492 number do?"

06/30/2010 04:40:38PM Marc Aaron Sogoian: "Does it help me in my renewal thing with the EVO?"

06/30/2010 04:41:13PM Marc Aaron Sogoian: "I mean- I have been a member for a LONG time... and 6492 has always been my line..."

06/30/2010 04:42:56PM Agent (James S.): "I am sorry but it will not help you renewal thing with EVO."

That may be true for non-Premier plans, but I have a Premier plan on my account... They have it on the wrong line though (Family Plan).

Yeah just get them to change your line to the premier one. I had to do the same thing. Unfortunately they can't do it until the next billing cycle which for me is usually the 27th of every month. As to what it seems you were confused about... The 100.00 instant rebate or mail in rebate (depending on where you get it) is only for new customers or customers who have a 150.00 upgrade meaning they are either premiere or they have fulfilled a two year contract. You are in a situation where you only get 75.00 off... No other rebates of any kind so your total price is 175.00 more than the listed price of 199.99 (100.00 instant or mail in rebate that you do not get + 75.00 which is half of 150.00 because you are getting 75.00 off). Make sense?

I'm sort of in the same boat. Wife and I are premier as well but her line is primary so recently I upgraded her phone so last night when I ordered the evo I only got $75 off. The subtotal without tax is $375 and once I get my $100 rebate my total cost will be $275.

I could be wrong here and they may have changed it but the 75.00 off upgrades don't get the Mail in Rebate. Again don't hold me to that but I would ask them. I know at Best Buy they don't give the 100.00 instant rebate for those particular customers

Well I've done this before and I've gotten the rebates. Even when I check the order status online it lists as a separate line item

Good to know. The last time I used a 75.00 rebate was before the premier programs and they didn't give me my rebate so glad they have changed this.

Thanks everyone for your help. Looks like I might have to wait the full billing cycle for it to be updated- but my $75 line is now premier.

HOWEVER you all just confused be with being able to get the $100 or not regardless of premier. Oh, well. I will just go in and haggle my way through it. Places like Best Buy and Sprint Stores have so many careless tweeners its a crap shoot anyway. :p

Just look at it this way. The loyalty reward of $150 is prorated to $75 per year of contract completion. The rebate is money you get back for buying the phone through sprint. Everything is subject to their approval but if you're a good customer you should be able to get the rebate regardless of the loyalty reward. In my case I'm paying $75 dollars more for the phone by buying at the 1 year mark so in essence I'm giving them $75 of the $100 rebate. No loss for them.

Don't hold your breath on the $100 rebate if you're only eligible for $75 discount. If you get it great, but if you go to Sprint's website they tell you there that only the $150 discount is eligible for the MIR.

I don't mean to be a jerk but have you read the requirements for the mail in rebate? It never mentions once the discount amount. Only that you buy through sprint.com or telesales and provide the proper documentation along with making a 2 year commitment.

They finally changed it on the Mail In Rebate form. You will get the 100.00 MIR from sprint as long as it has been 13 months since your last upgrade. So at 12 months you get 75.00 off, buy the phone, send of the mail in rebate, and keep it activated for 30 days and it will have been 13 months.
