Just called VZW, just to ask when I should call to swtich to Droid X if I wanted too since there were no pre orders. The lady on the phone asked if I wanted to switch. Bigger Screen and no ridiculous wait. The lady canceled my order and guarnteed me shed be giving me a call back on the 15th to place my order for a Droid X. Im pumped. The inc call quality and smaller screen is a turn off. So I am pumped they are letting us do this! Cant wait to get the call on the 15th.

I called and the sales guy said the same thing. Scheduled me for a specific time to call me on launch day too. He said it'd have free overnight shipping and I'd get it on the 16th. I think I'll still try to swing by a store before the call to see if I can pick it up on the 15th.

It's only a day but still... I want it asap!

I will be surprised if they don't sell out. Every recent release of a high end smart phone has. Why would this one be any different. I don't think they can accurately determine how many will sell.

Well to be fair, not only a year ago the Droid was released and it was the first huge Android phone on Verizon and they did okay. Also the only phones to sell out are the HTC Incredible, HTC EVO, and the iphone. See the problem with the first two? And of course the iphone will, everyone has to get the iphone.

I think there is a possibility that they will, but I am having some faith in Motorola.

The original storm sold out also when it first came out. But someone within motorola is getting paid to know how much demand is so they should be able to have ample supply, if they dont then that person should be fired lol

You think its a good idea to get it at launch? Just because there could be bugs and what not..

You're right there can be some bugs with the first unit, but there could be bugs with the 3rd and 4th units as well. You never know, I am going to get it as soon as I can. If you are worried then you might want to wait, but if you do get a defected phone they will replace it.

Yeah i mean the longer you wait you could get stuck in the same predicament that all those who ordered incredibles are in with backorders(although there is supposed to be no shortage on motorola's part) but there will always be bugs im sure if it is something they will send an ota out as soon as possible to correct the issue.

Waiting a few weeks after launch is a good idea, although I wasn't able to contain my excitement and ordered the Incredible on release. Once I got it, the poor call quality forced me to return it. The problem with assuming everything can be fixed via an OTA doesn't take into consideration problems that are "manufacturing or design" flaws.
