Pintail

anyone downloaded this PinTail app?
I'm just wondering exactly how to use this.. and if anyone has had good luck with it..

thanks..

Yes....
I like it! You just install it and set a pin code, then close it. If you lose your phone just send a text to you phone and it will send a response back with the phones location.
Your text must include "Locate ****" Of course the **** represents your pin code.
Very cool, it also sends back your location on google maps.

I have downloaded it and love it! It works as described. You asked how does it work....you send a text message from another phone to your phone with the word "Locate (Pin)" You will then recieve a text message with the approximate location of your phone with a link to click on to view it's location in google maps.

This application rocks and will be good for a quick recovery.

I like this app alot. It works well, and my wife and I use it for alot of convenience. Like when we're trying to figure out who's going to pick up the kids.. when she's on mass transit, she can find out where I am.. once she knows, it's just a matter of determining where the bus is, and she knows if I'm already on my way, still at work, or if we're both on the road, who's the closest.

ANYWAY.. I have two issues with this. The primary issue is that whenever we get map urls back we see the map, and if we zoom all the way in, we can determine where the person is supposed to be.. but there is no 'pinning'.. no red dot, no arrow, nothing to really show you on the map where they are.

Now the first time we received a map link back from pintail, when we tried to open it, it gave us a choice between maps, or opening the browser. We chose maps. This leads me to my second issue.. does anyone know how to change it, or at least me it where it will ask you again? It may just be that the pin shows up in the browser, but not on maps.. I'd like to find out.

Anyone?

I'll probably install this app... but telling my wife about it would be the last thing I would do. Not that I'm doing anything I shouldn't (usually :D )...
