Root BB v0.3 questions- sms/mms,

I guess this first one applies to any rom: Went back to NexBeast 0.2, love it.
I was using Handcent, and removing both IM.apk, and Mms.apk, along with Mms.bak. I discovered that I no longer received mms messages which I was under the impression Handcent covered, so I went back to previous backup before removal of apk's, then uninstalled Im.apk and Mms.apk, did not work, I then only removed Im.apk at which point I received the mms, but one that had sound on it had no sound playing. Other things removed- talkback.apk, kickback.apk, soundback.apk, amazonMp3.apk, youtube.apk, carhome.apk, CorpCal.apk, and a few more can't remember right now.

Other question, spec on BB v0.3: scripts; in the past I've used a set of scripts from DroidForums which I place in /system/xbin and then they are all available to me. This does not work for BB v0.3? The ROM has a lot of great scripts, but not general ones, like removing what app I want, at least AFAIK. Is there a way to do that with this ROM?
Also when using Switch command, do I have to rename the app to the apk it is replacing?

Thanks :p

Trying to solve MMS prob:
using NBv1.1, had same prob in other roms i believe also though....
I have the following apps removed, in addition to what Pete (awesome rom pete!) had done with Android 2.1 update 1:
AmazonMP3.apk
CorpCal.apk
CarDock.apk
Facebook.apk
IM.apk
Accessibility:
talkback.apk
kickback.apk
soundback.apk
All Launchers, besides ADW, released on Pete's OP
YouTube.apk

That's about it. Originally I had removed Mms.apk and Mms.bak, at which point i received no pic texts, next version, i removed above, and had working pic text, with NO SOUND, that is the prob at hand. Going to try again and leaving IM.apk to see if that helps. I'm wondering if any of the accessibility apps I removed have anything to do with it?

Thanks!

It is more then likely the Accessibility apps, particularly soundback.apk. I would suggest not removing any of those (Accessibility apps) as they are used by other apps (and the Android system) to hook into for certain functions.

Thanks! I suspected as much.
I wonder though, since at first I didn't even receive the message, if it also needs that Mms.apk app and or Mms.bak. Have to do a backup and see.... will leave accessibility alone though.

Is there much else that can be removed from that rom? It seems pretty streamlined as it is, like there is one app- google.feedback.apk, or something, I wondered if that or some like it could be removed, and what their purpose is. I'd prefer not to send reports back to google.

cheers,

I also use handcent but I learned the hard way that you need to keep the Mms.apk if you want to received sms/mms. When I frist rooted back in Dec. or Jan. I was like YES I don't use this so it's out of here, did not realize for two days that I had not received a text...lol

I did that but received texts, just no mms. I assume I need to keep that Mms.bak file as well?
