Accessories How effective are the recent changes to the updated Seidio Innocase II?

I just initiated an RMA exchange for my Best Buy Platinum Seidio Innocase with holster. I am quite hesitant to even use the replacement once it arrives because of all the damage I have read about the first edition causing. With the changes made to the revised case (specifically the rubberized interior) is there any possibility at all of it scratching my phone?

Also why are some people receiving the revised case with felt that extends above the camera cutout while others seem to have the felt end about half way up the camera cutout? I asked Seidio about this on their live chat and honestly the rep had no idea what I was talking about. His/her response was that the interior was completely rubberized which is not at all what I was asking.

I honestly don't know what you are asking here but I will try to answer. I did read all of the original complaints about this case because I was researching cases at the time. My wife ended up ordering the Innocase ll simply because she liked the color choices. It came in with the felt lining the back of the case. Fitment was excellent. And she is very happy with the case. I would be too if that had been my choice...I went with the active. Anyway, I see nothing wrong with the revised Innocase Surface ll. I hope that answers your question.

What I was saying is that Seidio redesigned the case to rubberize the interior of it. I'm wondering if that is proving to be very effective in eliminating scratches that the previous non rubberized interior was causing.

Further they increased the amount of felt present inside the case in some of the revised models. The felt in some extends above the camera opening and in others it only goes half way up the camera opening. I'm wondering why there is a difference?

YES there is a big improvement over the 1st one this is my 4th innocse 2 and it is such abettor case with the new rubberized lining and the felt up over openings.

Both the felt and rubberizing make a difference. Case fits more snugly due to felt inserts and if there is movement should create less abrasion wear from softer, rubberized interior.

The newer cases are probably what Seidio originally intended and meet my expectation (once I get my black replacement case - my wife's pink one is perfect).

It's been a hiccup, but I've been impressed with Seidio's customer service and willingness to resolve issues. Apple should take a page from them.

I submitted my RMA request early yesterday and haven't received a response yet. How long did it take until they contacted you?

What bugs me about the case is how it peels off my screen protector (Seidio Ultimate Screen Protector) when I slide the case on. That case has some sharp-ass edges to it - rubberizing the insides does nothing to keep the edges from slicing into the EVO.
I noticed this on my version that I got from Best Buy. I too was using the Seido Ultimate screen protector and it peeled up when I first put the case on. But after a few times putting the case on and taking it off it didn't happen again. I guess I was more aware of it and being careful, basically it became a non issue.

A couple of business days. If you don't hear from them by or on Monday, PM seidiosiedio and he can/will expedite your RMA.
Got a shipping notification today. It is a Fedex tracking number yet delivery is on 7/8! I think it's actually coming via US Postal first class and Fedex is involved somehow. Anyway I'm pleased that they sent it out and it was a very painless procedure for me to request it.

For anyone who has done an RMA with Seidio due to the Innocase II not fitting properly, do they ship out a new case alone or is it the entire case and clip combo as I originally purchased?

What I don't care for is the fact that the overall case size is the same, and they just added interior bulk to tighten up the fit. Redo the mold, make it a tighter fit and thus slimmer all around. That would be the real fix. I'm awaiting my RMA and just returning it. I'm sure the fit feels much better and more solid with the fixes (haven't had scratching issues), but if I'm paying a premium I don't want an add on fix. The loose fit equates to a larger all around case and the fixes just fill in the gaps. I can get that thickness in cases for $7-8 on ebay.

I just received then redesigned Innocase II and I am real happy with it. It fits nice and snug with no creaking what so ever. This is my 3rd case, the 2nd one fit no better than the 1st. I am very happy with the customer service and would certainly buy from them again. I wish customer service at every company was as good as what sedidiosedido did.

I don't really understand your criticisms at all. This case is already one of the slimmest I have ever used. They addressed the interior complaints because frankly the exterior is already excellent and there isn't anything to complain about. This company is very responsive to customer input and has addressed our concerns quite well. Besides they didn't just add interior bulk as you stated, they changed the interior material and extended the felt to an area that lacked it.

This made absolutely no sense

I'll dumb it down...You wear a size 32 pants. You buy a pair but they fit loose like 33's. Do you throw on a pair of sweats to fill them out or do you buy a pair that fits better?

I understand the changes they made. The rubberized interior and more felt. But if there was a 1mm gap that made it feel loose, that means the case is 1mm thicker than it should be and it puts it in the realm of other cases that are a fraction of the price. To me it's not that premium thin case anymore. The premium part is the holster combo and would be the reason to buy it since
most cases don't have that combo option.

You're not typing over any ones head. You're just not making any sense.

How would the case be larger?

If you were a swimmer and decided to grow your body hair out, would that change the fit of your pants?

Obviously I am. The case was too big to begin with.

You're selling a case stated as being 1mm thick, but you have a 1mm gap in the case that makes it fit loose. Meaning the distance from the back of the phone to the outside of the case is NOT 1mm.

You change the case by filling in that 1mm gap with a rubberized coating and felt. This makes the thickness of the case 2mm which is what the thickness was with the original thickness of the case plus the thickness of the gap.

Bottom line is you have a 2mm thick case, but it fits great. I want the 1mm thick case that fits great which is what the original case was supposed to be. 2mm thick cases are a dime a dozen, and the price premium just isn't worth it unless you need the holster combo, in my opinion.

Seriously, this isn't rocket science.

(just speculating on the thickness of the gap. 1mm was used for ease of reference)

It seems to be rocket science for you. Maybe you need to actually get the replacement before speculating on it. You might have a better idea of why you're not making sense.

The rubbery part inside, is nothing more than a spray on rubber coatting which stops the movement and fills in some of the slack that was there before.

whatever dude. you're the only one saying it doesn't make sense. Enjoy your $30 case. Having three cases including the innocase, it feels big. And I didn't need to enlarge the car cradle to fit the resin case, so I'll take $7 over $30.

I am going on my 3rd replacement. First one, like everyone else, too loose a fit, plastic inside. Second one had the new rubber inside, and it first it seemed to fit o.k. But after a week the top started getting loose again. I wrote an email (RMA) and called Seidio and explained the situation about the case loosening up again. They told me that it shouldn't expand and get loose if it was tight when I got it. I told them it is very humid here in the Northeast US, and could that cause expansion and had they tested it in heat. I told them I didn't want a replacement unless they added to the new rubberized version felt on the top and bottom. I got an email telling me they were sending another replacement. I will see if they just sent me the same thing or they actually fixed it even more. If this is not to my liking, I might either ask for a refund or maybe the new innocase active, I have heard fits better.

I received my SI2 replacement today. It was the second replacement I requested and came with the felt lining above the camera. It's rubberized.

The result? Seidio has nailed it now! This is exactly what I wanted when I ordered this case. It's snug and doesn't move/jiggle.

As to stories about expansion and rubber, physically expansion's possible. In fact, most materials have some degree of expansion/contraction. However, it's pretty unlikely that it would be to a degree that impacts performance or fit. I, live in the Northeast as well and wouldn't at all be afraid that our temps would impact the SI2. In fact, the temps here are more likely to impact the Evo itself more than the case. Seidio's in Houston so I'm sure they have even more heat and humidity than we do in the NE even though it doesn't seem possible right now during this heatwave.

I had both the original SI2, a replacement without felt not extending above camera, and now the full-spec SI2. None scratched my Evo (or my wife's), and Seidio has gone well past most other companies I've ever dealt with to make sure we got great customer service and the product we purchased. It took a few tries, but I'd give Seidio my recommendation because they got it right and reached out to me to get it right. They even responded to an issue I had with the Ultimate Screen Guard the same way.

I posted my concerns on this site and privately, and Seidio responded quickly and without additional cost to me. That's how it should be done, and I laud them. And as far as cases for Evo, they're the only one I would recommend. Some on this forum may not have had the positive experience I have, but I have great cases from a respectable Houston-based company.

I would buy from them again. In fact, if they come up with another color that I really like (chocolate) or the right two-tone scheme with clip in the Active Case, I just might buy from them again.
