Root DROID Life posting about FRF91 for N1

Ugh, I can't keep this up manually. I have to get around to buying Titanium Backup.

its the best thing to do by far... i did it and im happy... the best thing ive found is to:

boot phone and log into google
download titanium backup
turn on "airplane mode" (that stops google from downloading the apps as well as your restore.. ive had many issues with that slowing the process down)
batch restore and make sure in the preferences you have the box checked for "restore to original location" that way any apps on Apps2SD go back
Undo airplane and reboot.

works like a charm every time

I may try that next time I change ROMs...never thought of that. The dreaded sync icon is my nemesis when I change ROMs, maybe this will avoid some of that.

yeah it keeps my phone from melting down.. if i do it too slow it goes soooooo slow, so sometimes rebooting after switching to airplane mode can help stop the attempted syncing.

And the premium version of Titanium restores Market links as well, right? That's the main thing I want, the ability to get my automatic updates after restoring through Titanium.

Yup - restores the apps and market links so you continue to get update notifications and they show up in your download list.

In some cases after restoring you may have to install one app from the market for your apps to appear in your download list...I just choose a small free app and then uninstall it right after.

i use a slightly different method:
i skip the login screen (tap UL, UR, LR, LL corners of the screen).
then i go into settings and turn off auto sync in accounts and sync.
then i go to the marketplace and sign in and get TiBu and restore.

this way the phone really never gets a chance to even start syncing. just remember to turn auto sync back on afterwards.

With the new BB 0.4 (actually he implemented it in 0.3 I believe) Pete has the login screen skiped by default... It was awesome, before I did exactly what you do (tap the corners) turn off auto sync, etc...

When I installed BB 0.4 I didn't have to do any of that it was awesome...
