Is anyone else annoyed by this?

My Verizon plan (BB) was up. Did some research. Was considering iPhone or Android. Decided Android was the way to go for me, and Incredible was the Android phone I wanted.

Then...out of stock. Wait a couple weeks, then a couple weeks more. Then maybe some more. No clear answers on what is going on.

Now of course with the way things move today, there are new phones by now coming out (X).

I still prefer the Dinc, but for starters, I am not sure what support it will have in the future with the way this mess has been going. And who knows when you can get the thing anyway!

Frankly - I am annoyed with this whole process to the point of feeling like - screw it, screw the DI, there are other fine options out there.

Lame roll out for HTC and Verizon on this one.

did you try the Best Buy stores? thats how I got a Dinc at first.. I paid full price to get hold of a Dinc..(that way it doesn't go into my account as an upgrade but just a hardware swap).. then I waited for my Dinc to arrive from VZW.. and once I got it.. I returned my Dinc to Best Buy. .. I am sure there are some best buys that still carry it.

As far as support is concerned.. the HTC OTA update is on it's way.. that'll add 720p video recording to the device.. Froyo obviously will be coming to the device too.

HTC didn't anticipate this much demand for the device when they went with the AMOLED screen they were sourcing from Samsung. It was just a minor oversight. If you're waiting for it to show "in stock", you're going to be waiting a long time. They have to complete the switch to using LCD as well and finish filling the backorders. An LCD version might be showing up on the website, if I had to guess.

I hate to break it to you but this is the way it works with ALL technology. As soon as you get the latest and greatest device in your hands there is something better out there. It doesn't matter if you are talking about cell phones, computers, dvd/blue-ray players, game machines or any other number of gadgets.

If you can't live with that then I don't know what to say...

Yes, you are stating the obvious. The point is not that all tech is advancing quickly, that is well known. The point is - if you can not even get your hands on the phone you want (because they were not prepared or whatever), eventually something new will come out, and the original phone might lose out.

I believe Amazon is going to have them available tomorrow. I would have ordered another one from them, but you can't seem to add a line from the Amazon site (new customer or upgrade only) The wife is going to have to wait a bit longer.

I got mine on Amazon 3 weeks ago. I ordered it and had it 2 days later, for $150 plus shipping :)

I wouldn't be upset with Verizon on this. HTC has a limited contract with Samsung on the Amoled displays. They can't put the phones out fast enough. Not enough screens. Yes, the DInc is an amazing phone. If you want it, you'll have to wait for it. If you can't wait, there are two other good phones coming out. They are the X and the Fascinate. That's our system. Supply and demand.

I'm just thankful that VZW finally has state of the art smartphones. Their selection used to be less than industry average, imo.

Fact!

Verizon's smart phone selection has been sub-par up until 2009.

Now they are on a ROLL and I think everyone's pretty happy about that.

Never before would you see users already wanting to upgrade after 30 days of owning a top of the line smart phone in the Verizon world.

Am I wrong?

:)

If I hadn't already recieved my Inc on Launch day, knowing how scarce they are to come by, I would feel exactly like you. I didn't pre-order, but was at VZW when the doors opened on April 29th and was lucky enough to recieve one. Within a couple of days, there were none to be had anywhere.:( I would have thought that by now they could have caught up their supply with demand.

Not sure it's really about demand, so much as the shortage. They could be producing 2 incredibles a month and psychologically we'd assume "man it must be selling alot because i haven't gotten mine yet". I've yet to see anyone in public with an incredible and i know a couple dozen people that have said they would've gotten an inc, but the backorder made them get something else or wait for the x/droid 2. I'd like to see some production figures on this

While that would be true if we were merely assuming demand, but we're not. The Verizon CEO said it was the fastest selling phone they've ever launched.

I'm waiting for mine also. Here is the problem in a nut shell. We as Americans hate waiting for anything.
We have become so used to getting things right now no matter what the cost.
I'll be honest with you here.
This is like the first time I've had to wait for something besides my first girlfriend giving up her virginity:D.
It' actually a pretty interesting emotional roller coaster for me.
Believe it or not It has become a challenge for me to ignore the fact that I cant have something right now.
We are so spoiled..................................;)

It sure is a popular phone. I ran into 3 guys in one day that had one. They loved them as much as I love mine. I had to wait 21 days for mine to show up. Hardest 3 weeks of my life. You can only read so many reviews and forums before you go mad with the itch. I had to stay away from the boards because I was getting pissed that I did not have mine yet.

I waited 2.5 weeks for mine, and it was worth it. No way do I want a Droid X. I've seen four of them in the workplace and were the envy of all the iPhone guys until the 4 started rolling out, and there's still stuff my Inc does or simply does better that the iPhone guys can't get over. I'd buy it and wait again, if I had to.
