Root full nand unlock

From the Where's the Painfree thread:

I'm pretty sure the "full root" you're referring to is a NAND unlock, which means that apps don't have read/write access to /system, which is what prevents a BusyBox install (although you can install BusyBox while in Clockwork).

This method will not unlock the NAND, and its results will be similar to the one we already rooted folks have used. They've been very clear that they have a working NAND unlock (full root) but will most likely not release it... this is because if something goes wrong with the NAND unlock process, you have a brick. Flashing recovery (Clockwork) is much more versatile in this case, and gives almost the same benefits.

You can't modify /system from a booted phone (i.e. not in recovery). Period. And until someone is willing to release a new HBOOT (with all of the risks that entails), it will remain so.

You can delete "pretty much whatever you want"? Then you must not want to delete anything in /system.

Even without nand unlocked you can still mount /system as r/w and delete things. But youll see that if you close root explorer and open back up, whatever you just deleted is still there.

Funny you say this... I just did exactly that... and the APK i deleted... IS GONE ... i even adb shelled into it, ls -l /system/app FILE IS GONE. Rebooted recovery, adb shell , FILE IS GONE!!

SO either MY PHONE defies all that we know, OR you CAN DELETE ITEMS with root explorer! Deleting a file may utilize different permissions? I dont know but i do know that I DELETED THAT FILE WITH ROOT EXPLORER!

Or you just don't know what you're doing. You CANNOT go into you /system/app folder and actually delete it, using root explorer. Like someone said above me, you can hit R/W and delete the app, but it doesn't actually delete it.
