if i ordered the x would it take as long to ship as the incredible would?

im going to verizon on july 8th and with all the news about the new 720p recording and hotspot OTA it has swayed me back to the incredible.. unless i have to wait another like 2 or 3 months for it to ship. so say if i ordered the X and the incredible which one would come into my hands the fastest

Well you can't order the X until the 15th since Verizon isn't taking any preorders. The X will be available on the 15th... if you order an Incredible, then there is no good chance that it will arrive then because of the backorders.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if its backordered just like the incredible. Verizon let it happen with the Incredible, they could do it with the X too for all we know.

I really don't think it was a case of Verizon "LETTING" the backorders happen. I am fairly certain that Verizon would be able to sell more of the Incerdibles is they were readily available. I think it actually is more that HTC failed to meet the demand to Verizon because of their problems with the supplier for the screens (Samsung). You can probably bet that the suits at Verizon have been freaking out because of this.

To the OP....there is no way that anyone can answer that question without just throwing out some kind of a guess.....unless someone has that crystal ball.

well good news, the incredible is showing a ship date of 8/3 on verizon's website...so you might have a really good chance getting the X.

The incredible shortage was based on lack of screen availability from samsung. The X doesn't have that same screen, and even if there was a shortage, I doubt it would be as large as what the incredible buyers have had to deal with.

I went to my local Verizon store today to see how much it would cost me to upgrade mine and my wifes phones. They put me on their reserve list. The manager told me that store was getting 50ish phones in and the first 25 were being put on reserve for the first people for pre-orders. The other 25 phones would be sold on first come first served basis. You can definitely get an X before the DINC.

the only reason for the delay on inc's is a shortage of samsung amoled to make the screens. Droid x doesn't use amoled, so even if in the first week there was a huge demand and you had to await the next shipment, it would probably only be a delay of a few days to a week. Nothing like the incredible shortage. They know this phone will sell. They'll have plenty

Well, you certainly can blame whomever you wish. But the fact of the matter is that it is a problem caused by HTC. I mean, it is possible that HTC told Verizon that they would be able to produce a specific number of phones and then could not. That doesn't in any way indicate that Verizon LET anyone do anything.

it was due to component shortages to make inc screens the X has a different screen that very few phones use so there wont be a back up since samsung needed the screens for their own phones

I just spoke with V CS about this same issue, she explained why the INC was backordered, parts ect. nothing new to us and I quote "since Moto is a much larger company the only reason anything would be out of stock is due to people buying them up so fast, best thing to do is be at VW store when they open" -

Yes...this has been announced and reported on several websites.

They will be switching to a screen manufactured by Sony. Should help HTC's situation.

I ordered mine and have a conf #. It is a replacement for my inc.
I don't know if you can order one otherwise?
