Just to give everyone a heads up, Best Buy will be doing pre-orders again for the Droid X from the 4th-10th. Pre-orders do not guarantee you a phone on day one, but it just puts you in line. If you order the phone you will get yours in the order pre-orders were done and everyone else who didn't order in advance have to wait last.

It will be in Sunday ad. It was posted in our employee news so I can't post proof here. It even says that supplies will be very limited, so I'd get to the store early to be one of the first to preorder unless that store already has a lot from the first set of preorders. Even if you preorder, I'm sure you will have to wait a little while to get your phone after release.

Wow. I haven't heard of any Verizon stores doing midnight launches. Crazy but I'd do it if they offered it.

I might as well. Might be the word here. But then again I am the woman who was literally dragged out of bed at midnight for the midnight release of breaking dawn by her rabid twlight friend. But hey I was like the 50 th in line so I got out quick lol.

I will never wake up early or spend any time on a line, Ever! After my cousin spent 8 hrs on line to get the iPhone 4 on launch day, and for me to wait 5 days later for at&t to release it and walk right into my friends corporate store and grab it within 20 minutes. No way, no insanity for me! Plus I returned it the following day because it just sucked...lol...my cousin won't admit it, but his has a lot of problems to, but considers the phone a battle scar from waiting so long in line.

Anyway, point is, I'm all for pre-orders....and best buy is doing well by doing what they have been doing lately. I did my order the first day, so I should definitly get one on the 15th.

I was in Best Buy today, looking for something and I asked about pre-ordering the DX, the guy said they were still taking regular pre-orders, so I ordered. He said I would get it the 15th.

Please please please do not take his comments as 100% accurate, because that is the complete opposite of what you should be told. All you are to be told is you will get a phone in the order preorders are placed. You ARE NOT guaranteed a phone on day one (but it can happen). No employee knows how many phones they will receive and it even says in the employee news article that supplies will be VERY limited. So if they already have a handful of preorders or more then I wouldn't expect it on the 15th. You never know though, maybe its one of the higher selling stores and they get more in on launch days than the average store. He just sounds like a used car salesman. We don't get commission, but it sounds like he is just trying to get an easy preorder

I just got back from pre-ordering my X at Best Buy.

The form I filled out had a number 9 written on it with a black marker, so maybe i was the 9th person to pre-order one there?

I was asked if I wanted to pick it up on the 15th, I said yes, so he pulled out a form that had time slots on it, there were only two other names on it, so maybe I was the 3rd to pre-order one there?

Either way, he said I would have mine on the 15th.

Well, usually we do mark them in the order they are received to keep us organized, and the timesheet thing is normal as well. You should receive one the day of, but, there isn't a guarantee. I know "Screenamesucks" and I have been trying to push this, and it's what every employee is suspose to stress after the iPhone preorder incident, where a lot of customers didn't get their phone on the first day because of supply limits.

There is a pretty good chancer you can get one, but just remember there are always circumstances out of our hands (for example, iPhone launch we were suspose to get 50 phones...only got 20 >.>).

Good luck :)

Just preordered another one at a different best buy, since I want one and the wife does too. Anyway, he said I was #5 or #6 total, including the first round and virtually guaranteed I'll get one one on the 15th. I wonder why they stopped the first round of pre-orders?

It was due to supply constraint. Essentially Verizon said "hey guys, hold up" after they saw how many we preordered. They started it back up because they had a better supply, and would be able to get more out with more assurance.
