So i got my droid on launch day. i really love the phone but the battery life was concerning me. wasn't able to make it through a day with medium use. so i took it into the verizon store and asked what was up. she noticed my connection was dropping intermitently so she updated the cell sites and told me to try that and come back tomorrow and she could do a battery test on it. so i took it back today and had the battery test done (3 hours of waiting) and the battery seemed to be fine but the rep went ahead and replaced the whole unit and battery.

so here is where the interesting part comes in. the battery life on this new unit seems to be a lot better, but also the keyboard clicks A LOT BETTER! in addition to that the screen seems to be brighter on full brightness. so i looked at the version and the first one i had was a 41/09 and this new unit is a 42/09. i don't know if the 41/09 is having issues with signal loss of what but that would deffinately account for poor battery life in the unit.

now incase you guys think maybe i'm just wishing the keyboard feels better i handed it to my roomate (who is an iphone user) and he confirmed it clicked a lot easier and nicer.

just thought i'd put this out there and see if anyone else can confirm this. i haven't had a chance to run it a full day and see just how much better the battery life is but tomorrow i will and report back

I have a 42/09 unit as well, purchased via CS - my battery life lasts me the whole day, although with sync and GPS enabled, and me running Twidroid all day, not to mention using the Nav features both to and from school, I am cutting it pretty close by the time I get home. It might be that the unit that you had was a 'demo' unit (not demo for customers, but demo for the VZW folks, who had the phone up to a week or longer before 6 Nov)....

40/09 here. I ordered mine online on launch day. It shipped from Ontario California. It was scanned by FedEx about 2 hours after I ordered it.

I haven't had any problems so far that didn't turn out to be user error except wifi, and I'm still not sure that that is the Droid's fault. My wifi at home works perfectly, but it's an old Linksys 802.11b with WPA. The work wifi is a problem and it's a Netgear 802.11n/g/b with WPA2. I get a connection, with WPA2 and occasionally things start to load but they always die. Wifi analyzer has the signal strong but it intermittently goes away. I still want to try a few things before I make a serious accusation against the Droid's wifi.

Battery seems good.

Mine is a 42/09 (whatever that means). Been wondering about the signal issues. I have noticed the cell signal intermittently dropping to 1 or 0, in areas where I have always had good coverage previously. It always seems to come back up, tho. Seems like when using certain apps or turning on/off GPS, Wifi, BT it causes the cell signal to drop. Anybody else seeing this?

I'm also having an issue w/ my BT headset. It had been working well until a couple days ago. Now when I get a call, after about 5mins or so, the BT connection just drops. Sometimes I can hit the headset button and it will pick back up...sometimes it won't and I have to pick up the Droid. Anybody else having this problem? I know the headset is fine - used to use it for an hour or more continuously on my WinMo phone w/ no problems.

I also see on my droid (42/09) where the signal goes down to 1 or 0, funny thing is i can call out right away or send a txt to myself via google voice (from computer) and it comes in just fine. I think it's just a lil quirk or something with the phone. Who knows, i still get my calls/txts so it's all good. Being just a visual representation and it's going down to 1 or 0 even when it's full bars doesn't bother me as much.

I've had two so far, both 42/09:

First one: terrible battery life, camera focused (green corners) everything else very good.

Exchanged Sunday due to battery issues.

Second one: not sure about battery life yet, but might be better, camera will not focus (red corners), power button has almost zero travel and is hard to push, and slider is "loose" compared to first one, much more likely to slide open a bit unintentionally.

Going for my third sometime this week to try to get one w/a camera that works... <sigh>
