Root how to root from 2.0.1 (noob)

I am a complete noob at rooting. lets just get that out of the way.
I used the guide from the unlockr.com to get to 2.0.1 and used another guide on this website but it just didnt work. So all I am asking is a guide that WORKS to get to rooted 2.1

The guides here work...been tried and tested thousands of times...

If you follow the instructions properly, you can't go wrong. If you get stuck at a certain point then post the specifics of what procedure is not working for you.

i tested several of these while rooting a few office phones last week. they work with no problems.

There was an easy way to root from 2.1 but since you have 2.0.1 you can do it the "old fashioned" way that a lot of us early rooters did back in the day. Start at the first post in the thread and make sure you download all the necessary drivers and get your cpu set up properly. Just follow each section and you will be rooted shortly.

Don't be surprised if your heart is beating fast when you're rooting. Mine was too... but it's worth it! Just go step by step and show your Droid NO FEAR!

but whats the point of the whole command prompt thing. There are all these commands that i could do but how do i get the prompt to recognize my droid

I am completely done. I want out. I am not trying root anymore. All there has been was trial and failure. How do I get back to stock android 2.1 update 1?

well if you failed...then you shouldn't be rooted, therefore still be at stock 2.1...

and I'm sorry, but I don't know ANYTHING about the dINC...

i got to the part where i got to 2.0.1. i tried to flash stock 2.1 to my droid and it failed so yeah

Well then wait for the OTA to pop up on your phone and it will automatically do it for you...and if you're too impatient, you can search the forums here for the "how to push the 2.1 update" thread...dunno where it is or I would link it lol.

try going to settings>about phone>check for updates...... your 2.1 update should show up in there.

dude idk. im pretty tech savvy but i think there is just something with the phone. just got it the other day and it was a refurb. phone so yeah. you never know. but i did everything right and it still didnt work. Some of these guides are super easy to understand. Its just the phone I guess.
