The Droid X does quite well vs the iPhone 4. :) It'll be even more amazing when Froyo comes out. Jon makes an error saying that Flash (on 2.2) will be arriving late this year when it's coming in August though. Just pointing that out. I'm a little disappointed that it wasn't as comprehensive as it could've been. There's nothing on call quality, battery life, and some other key things. But... it still does cover a lot of other things.

Enjoy!

I agree with Vihzel. I felt he was pretty unbiased in his reviews and did a good job of fleshing out why he gave points where he did. And while I love the droid x and will be getting one, the iphone 4 won because it had a front facing camera while the droid x did not. While it isnt a big deal to me, others really like that feature and thats where the iphone beats out the droid. (at least in this review)

That being said, there are a multitude of other things that can be compared with these two phones. some of these include:

-battery life
-call quality
-reception issues/network
-durability/feel

and many others.

On a side note though; Apple vs Android = all consumers winning in the end. YAY CAPITALISM!

I think it was a pretty good review and mostly unbiased from what I could tell. Like others have said though I hate how no one ever mentions reception and call quality. Everyone seems to leave that out when reviewing. Especially when comparing a phone to another, I would think that would have something to do with who wins the better phone award.

But with the points on who won I think the were accurate as far as I could tell.

I thought the audio was better on the X with the video. The iPhone did better in low light. I cant really tell in the normal light. The video recording audio is the only thing I didnt see the same way he did.

Im surprised he actually killed tasks to run the browser test...lol

he made a comment on the screen section of the review that was something like this "i have to give this one to the iPhone because of the real estate and its easier to read text"

I understand how he was trying to say that it wins because of the more pixels but come on. 4.3 vs 3.5. Its almost an inch of a difference. If you're find it easier to read it on the iPhone's smaller screen, you have an issue.

also the keyboard, He kept saying that I love the iPhone keyboard, and been using it.
I'm surprise he actually pick Droid X, and that's even without the Swype option

concerning the screen: u can actually see for ur self. the text is readable on the iPhone and the Droid X is pixelated.

i know but they way he explained it didnt make sense and just sounded like he was throwing the iphone a bone. the huge screen is one of the main features of the droid X

I could barely hear him threw the iphone recording but on the droid x his voice was loud and firm. I find Jon to be an apple fanboy. He praises everything apple. He gave the browser to the iphone but he even said it himself that android usually is faster. Also on the cpu note. Nobody knows yet if the iphones A4 is clocked at 1 ghz so that really wasn't fair to call them even

I personally, would never read text that small on a phone because it strains my eyes. I ALWAYS zoom in to read text. If the text isn't as big as the text on a computer screen, then it's too small. hehe

I personally don't care if the text is more legible on the iPhone 4 vs. the Droid X from full page view because that's not what I'm concerned with when I'm looking at the full page. I'm primarily concerned with just quickly finding what I need on the page and then zooming in to do whatever I need to do.

The whole "Is the text pixelated from full page view?" is really silly unless you naturally read text from full page mode.

Don't strain your eyes!

Nice Review but why is it that everyone seems to forget these are phones? They don't factor in call quality! Oh brother.

I agree. Phone quality is very important. Although a lot of the phone quality has do on what network you are on and where you live. The phone hardware will not be able to overcome marginal network coverage.

John of Techno Buffalo always leans towards the iPhone, as he is an iPhone user to begin with. But he does pretty good reviews, been watching him and Brandin from Pocketnow.com for a while now. I would like to see some phone comparisons though. I bought the Droid incredible thinking it was going to be business as usual with Verizons awesome call quality. I was wrong, the call quality stinks on the incredible. Not just on mine, my dads, and a few people that work for me. So anyone who says it doesn't, lives in the same world as people that think the iPhone 4 has no problems, as they ride their unicorns to work.

Honestly, the iPhone is a bad match up. It's a crappy device, on paper it looks good. In person, its a real let down. Returned mine the following day, the 3Gs was much better IMO. My EVO Beats up the iPhone 4 in a lot of areas, and I suspect the Droid X will do the same, providing it has Verizons great call quality, and posesses all the gifts that work in real life as we have seen in many reviews. I'm excited for it, looks like a really great addition to the Android Family.

I really like Jon's reviews and videos and I didn't notice any bias from him. I watched his IP4 Vs. Evo video and says in the video that he is an iphone user (I respect that he let that be known). He gave the same round to the IP4 about the screen against the Evo but at the end he calls the Evo the winner between both phones. I hardly think he can be thought of as a fan boy and is pretty unbiased for the most part in his reviews and videos. Just my opinion of course.
