New HD video shot with DX, watch at 720p

^I was wondering the same thing....lol

I heard someone say "now that the Inc is getting 720p recording, I dont see whats so special about the X"

..........lol..........Like thats all the X offers over the Inc....

But hey, if u feel the Inc is a better phone, the best phone for u , then by all means stick with it.

That is atrocious. I was gonna trade my Incredible in for a DroidX but with the impending DINC OTA update and the fact thhat HDMI is neutered on the DroidX, I guess I'll keep my DINC.

I also find it funny how people change the subject to browser comparisons (avoiding the original subject of this thread) when it is clear that the IP4 spanks the DroidX in terms of HD video performance.

I mean, are you serious??? What horrid quality at 720p and full screen, look at all the jaggies and blurriness. How embarrassing this looks for this great phone:

lol Suuuuuure. You have been so active on this forum! I am familiar with your posts from the Incredible forums.

Check out these too (btw... like I said earlier, if 720p is anything like the EVO's... then lol):

What? I am browsing this forum because I was seriously considering trading my DINC in for something better. I'm not really happy w/ the AMOLED screen, the camera on the DINC is piss-poor. I was hoping the DroidX would be better. Screen wise, it is better. I prefer LCD over AMOLED. I also like the fact that I am reading it plays DIVX/720p videos out of the box. The battery life is supposedly better on the DroidX. Yahoo mail on the Droid X is a big plus.

But the issue that I have with Droid X is:
1) Lack of trackpad. I use it a lot when I am running connectbot SSH client.
2) Half-ass HDMI implementation
and now
3) Camera quality.

I was able to convince the VZW store to allow me an exchange on my DINC: 1) pink screen, 2) Bad power-management (2 battery replacements).

I will play with a DroidX when it hits the store but I am on the fence on which direction to go. The better camera could have swayed me over the missing trackpad.

Have you even been reading the reviews of the Droid X? There has not been one reviewer that said the camera is "bad". Every single one has stated that it is at least "good" or higher.

It can play photos, user content, and camcorder videos with the HDMI. What exactly were you expecting from a phone?

Trackpad... well I can't help you there. lol

The OP did post browser comparisons with the 2nd post.....

I assume since the camera or the video quality will probably sway u, you will be using it as much as you use the phone to make calls.

Video recording quality - iPhone 4

Video recording voice quality - X

Spanking woulda been iPhone taking both categories.

I was expecting the HDMI to output whatever is on the phone to the TV. E.G. when I play youtube. HTC does this. I was expecting to replace my existing car's navigation with Google Maps Navigation by outputting the phone's screen to my car. The Incredible's TV-OUT does this. EVO does this.

Gizmodo's camera comparison shows it to be awful. I was expecting the videos to be better.

The Droid X can't show Google Maps Navigation from the phone via HDMI? I don't know if I have seen anything on that to confirm yes or no. That isn't something typical.

Well you are comparing the Droid X in low light vs. the iPhone 4 (which is much better in low light) and also vs. a point-and-shoot...

There's no disagreement that the Droid X isn't better than the iPhone 4 and a Canon point-and-shoot in low light situations. Also, just use flash. lol I can't see anyone in real life actually not wanting to use flash for night portraits.

If you're basing everything off of the iPhone 4 and a point-and-shoot, then you're going to be sorely disappointed. The camera is just as good, if not better, than the Incredible's and that's pretty damn good for a PHONE w/ a camera. I have my trusty Sony HX5V if I want to take real amateur photography.

Well, it has been stated that it doesn't do youtube. It has been stated it only plays whatever is in the Gallery App (photos & video from the camera). Also, on this forum, it has been stated it can't play Blockbuster movies via HDMI. So, you can't use something like RockPlayer to play your divx movies via HDMI.

If it doesn't output whatever is on the phone's screen, the HDMI is useless to me. The Google Nav is only one example where I would use HDMI. Someone may want to play SNESOID or a MAME game emulator on their big screen. If it can't do that, HDMI is a useless feature.

Also, just use flash. lol I can't see anyone in real life actually not wanting to use flash for night portraits.
Let see, a million or so camera owners who spend $500-$1000 for lens/cameras with the widest aperture they can get their hands on. Point-n-shoot cameras like the LX3/DLUX4, CanonS90 sell because they shoot at f/2.0 and only for those reasons. People pay the $200 premium over regular point-n-shoots.
The iPhone can shoot as low as f/2.4 on a cell phone. I spend up to $1200 on a lens (Nokton) because it can go as low as f/1.0. I never, ever, never, ever use a flash. The difference between a f/3.5 and a f/2.4 lens is can be tangible be calculated in worth as much as $200.

Edit: I realize I got off on tangent. The Droid X does have a better camera than the DINC. So that would be an upgrade for me in that area.
