Hey all, sorry to ask yet another question. I just love my phone so much I don't want to trash it.

If I flash sprecovery but don't root or change roms or anything, will I still receive the ota or will I have already past the point of no return?

I don't think you CAN flash SPRecovery without rooting.

Yes, you can RSD Lite SPRecovery without being rooted. It's the easiest way to root 2.1, you flash SPRecovery then load a custom ROM.

As for the first question I'm not 100% sure if you will still receive over-the-air updates but I believe you will as the over-the-air certs have not been changed.

bp328i is correct. You can flash SPRecovery and not be rooted. But from there you can install a custom ROM which will give you root. But simply having SPRecovery installed doesn't mean you're rooted.

In regards to the OP question, SPRecovery does indeed block the OTA updates (I think it was designed that way to keep people who rooted back in the 2.0.1 days from losing root when the 2.1 OTA rolled out). If you want to get the update when it's released, you might want to just stay with the stock recovery.
