Help Built in mail app (Slow!) vs Google mail app (Fast!)

I'm using the built in mail app, and it is SO slow compared to the Googlemail app that also comes with the phone. However, I've not found a way to use the googlemail app with non-google addresses.

Has anyone else found the mail app to be really slow? I've got task killer installed, so I'm fairly convinced it's not a lack of memory issue.

nope stock mail app works very fast.. even prior to root and speed tweak..
very happy with it..

I haven't checked the phone for settings but I know that you can link other mail accounts to your Gmail account so you'd get them to the Google Mail app that way.
