Hi everyone! Just bought nexus one last wednesday. I'm loving it so far, this thing is fast! Havent experience 2.1, manually updated froyo from the moment i charged it and just received frf91 awhile ago:D Just a few questions.

1. My screen sometimes hangs for about 3-10 seconds from time to time, I'm thinking that's its because its reading, is it normal? Or mine is a defective unit?
2. How can you change me in the messaging? I want to put a picture and change the me to my name.
3. What's the normal battery life? From 90 to about 15 percent (installed battery indicator) I'm getting about 10 hours with moderate use.
4. How can I get paid apps? Really like the beautiful widget. I'm from the Philippines.

Sorry for the noob questions, im really new to android and this my first smartphone ever! Haven't been able to tinker with it yet because of work. PS. Android FTW!

1- from the main screen go to menu/settings/applications/manage applications/runing ... from there u can stop whatever u think shouldn't be tuning.. have in mind that Widgets, live wallpapers, etc. Will take up memory space

2- what Ryjabo said.. if u r in Facebook it will use ur profile picture I think. Also, there are some messaging replacement apps in the market (I'm not sure if they do this though ).

3-i get through the whole day easily.. be aware that the screen is the biggest battery drainer.. but if for some reason an app gets stuck you'll see a big difference in the battery life, if that's the case, go to my #1

4- support the devs.. some like gameloft sell their app directly from their website.. I think there's a website where u can actually buy apps but I'm not sure on the name.. someone else?..

1 - running launcher pro right now, i'll observe for the next hours if the screen still hangs. question. how do yo add homescreen? it said in the launcher pro that it can have 7 homescreen, after i'd install it, it became only 3. (and clear my homescreen to default :( but its okay)

2 - tried that but still shows "me" and still no picture. im not into facebook..

3 - do you have to root to undervolt/underclock? i'll try it next time if i have the time.

4 - in the market, it doesnt show apps that is not free (like beautiful widgets, docstogo, etc.) tried appbrain, it also says "the requested item could not be found" i read it somewhere that you cannot access apps if you are outside US..

@macprv thanks for the suggestions. just see my reply above :)

additional question: how can you enable the fm radio without rooting?

While your on your 'home page'(?), click on the "Menu" button between the "back" and "home" button and click on "preferences" and you'll have access to all the bag of tricks Launcher Pro has. You will find the number of screen settings in the "homescreen settings".;)

#2 - press and hold your gray profile picture box and you'll get a pop up asking where you want to get your picture.

#3 - yes you need to root

#4 - you can only buy apps if you are from a Google experienced country. There's a list of countries floating around but the Philippines isn't one of them. You can go onto the developer's website and buy directly from them.. just do a search for the app. There are alternative markets that allows you to buy apps... don't remember so if anyone can tell the OP, it'll save him or her a lot of trouble.

yeah i agree, when i first got my N1 i turned everything off my batt wasnt making it half way though the day, by the 5th day or so i made it all day with like 70 pecernt so i got live papers used it fr web games everything, since january ive been running it full throttle ending my day at still 40% or so depending on if i use it for music, and with 2.2 update this morning its even better, so much so that i now even use a brighter more vibrent screen setting (previously this is one feature i only turned on in sunlight)

i never had my screen hang to much but when i did it was to many things going on, i got adv app killer and 1 minute after my screen goes off it auto kills anythign i dont tell it to ignore, it also has a quick kill button widget, after getting this i have never had system lag. i also dled a os monitoring program along with a better detailed sys monitor which tells me during the corse of the day every app that has run, for how long, how much cpu and ram is used, and has a chart that gives me what my cpu was doing thoughout the day. get one of these to help find anything killing your resorces and eliminate the problem.
