Incredible, X, or Time?

Hey guys,

I've had an Eris since about the week of release (1.5 to 2.1) and I LOVED the phone, however, I'm the kind of person who is on the phone doing stuff (Usually procrastinating :p) all the time. The battery isn't really an Issue with me because I'm generally near a charger throughout the day.

After having this phone for as long as I have, I've begun to get frustrated with random little freeze-ups and slow typing/dialing and just general lack of speed. I was planning on grabbing an HTC Incredible when they become available again at my local stores and giving my Eris to a friend. From what I've read, the 1Ghz processor is a HUGE deal.

With that said, all of the sudden this new Droid X pops on the market, and after reading/watching the review (Motorola Droid X Review | Android Phone Fans) I'm REALLY wanting that one now. I know it lacks HTC, but I haven't really had the best experience with HTC anyway (I always reverted my eris back to stock android home).

My problem is this: I see things and I get all worked up and think it's the greatest thing ever. Unfortunately, I discovered the two phones so close together I haven't had time to come down from my "Gotta Have It!" high haha (they're pumping them out too fast!!). I don't know which to choose between the Incredible and the Droid X.

I want to know what you guys think; Should I get the Droid X, Incredible, or wait for another phone to come out?

(Also, that HDMI out is a really nice + for the X)

Thanks Guys!

Some love the large screen of the X and some dislike it. Again it's all about personal preference. Despite it's larger size, it is thinner than most phones. I'd definitely suggest looking up some comparison photos to get a more accurate representation of the size for you

When you say "I know it lacks HTC, but I haven't really had the best experience with HTC anyway" I assume you mean Sense. If you like vanilla android then the DI may not be the way to go. From what I have heard outside of rooting you can't disable Sense on it like you could with the Eris. Don't actually know if you can even get rid of Sense by rooting either. Haven't followed it that closely. Of course the DX doesn't run on vanilla android either. So that is a fail/fail. LOL

As far as choosing between the DI and DX it comes down to the UI and screen size. Of course the battery life has been reported to be way better than the DI or original Droid. But I see that really isn't an issue. As for the third option of waiting, that is up to you. Personally if I am in the market for a new phone I look at now and not the future. I'll worry about the future when it gets here.

I have a Droid, and I picked up an Incredible the other day. Let's just put it this way, the Incredible is on the way to being sold on Craigslist, or put up on Ebay. I reactivated my Droid this morning.

The incredible is nice, but the battery life SUCKS. I also don't like Sense all that much. I disabled as much as I could, but the contacts, dialer interface, etc, just suck.

If you like Stock Android, the X will build on that, but it doesn't look as invasive. Honestly, if you can wait, just wait, and see how it plays out.

This is mostly a matter of preference. Both phones perform at a close enough rate, plus there aren't too many games that push the boundaries of Android devices anyways. So this boils down to size, whether you like HTC Sense UI, and aesthetics. The battery issue of the Incredible can be easily remedied by purchasing a 1500 mAh OEM battery on ebay for $15. I've done this and now my phone is around 60-70% at 9pm, after being off the charger since 730am where as before I would be closer to 40%. The Inc does have a brighter screen than the Droid X due to having an AMOLED display (pretty much why there is a shortage of Incredibles, screens aren't being produced fast enough), but this also makes it so its more difficult to see in direct sunlight.

Me, personally... I'm going to sell my Incredible when the X comes out simply because I love browsing the web on my phone and the extra screen space will benefit me big time. Also, I'll be making money because I have another line due for an upgrade. Truth be told.. if I didn't have another line due for an upgrade, I wouldn't sell my Incredible.
