Root Need help bad

the phone wont stay on long enough for me to do anything

You have to pull the battery...let it sit for a few seconds and then reboot into recovery by pressing and holding "x" when the phone powers on. This will bring you to your recovery interface and you can mount your USB hard drive from there to place a new kernel on the SD Card and then install it.

You are in a "boot loop" and this is common if you have a kernel that your phone can't handle. The one you posted was a 1.2GHz kernel...start lower as it seems your phone can't run that fast.

Ok wait I think I got it I pulled the battery then put it back in and held down the power and x button and went back to the stock one it seems to be working now. WOW that was scary thanks for the quick help tho

Well...you're through it...so it shouldn't be scary anymore. This is very common when loading different kernels and you have to find you phones "sweet spot" to see where it runs best. I can load 1.2GHz on my phone...but I will see random reboots when using it. 1.1 GHz works perfectly for my phone but EVERY phone is different.

You should be able to run 1.0GHz but after that (1.1, 1.2, 1.25GHz) may or may not work on your phone. If you get in a boot loop...don't use that kernel ;)

For 2.1 there are a lot of good kernels. P3Droid's and Chevy's kernels are good as Branndon mentioned. Bekit Kernels were always good to me as well.

You need to ensure that the kernel you are downloading is for the correct ROM version (2.1 vs. 2.2). You don't want to put a 2.2 kernel on a 2.1 ROM as it won't work properly (or vice versa).
