Today I got a Samsung Moment and it worked perfectly. I updated it to the new Android 2.1 and everything went fine. But later in the day, my phone was unable to connect to the internet over the phone signal, but it will still make/recieve calls/messages. Does anyone have any idea what is wrong?

That's known as a data lockup or airplane mode bug. It is a known issue, and I suggest returning your Samsung Moment. Google it. This is coming from a Samsung Moment owner.

Also, 2.1 didn't cause the issue, it is there with 1.5 as well.

I looked up Data Lockup and the Airplane mode bugs on Google, and I found that in most cases, they can't make or receive calls or messages, but I don't have a problem with that. Also, they say that there is a constant 'outgoing data' symbol in the top bar, and I don't have that.

Could I have the problem without the symptoms? Or is something else wrong?

This application did not fix what I am having trouble with. After turning off WiFi and using the EvDo Fix App, the problem still persists.

Bottom line is, the moment has an unfixable(to date) fatal flaw, and I would definitely return it. If you like the moment, the Samsung intercept (moment 2) is coming soon, like within a month or so, and it may not have this flaw. It is basically the same exact phone with a new outter design and a DTV tuner.

Or if you want a massive upgrade, the epic 4G is supposedly coming out within a month or two also.

Take the moment back.. it's not worth the hassle IMO.

So basically the only option is giving up on the phone?

Well I got on the chat thing with Sprint, and they walked me through some troubleshooting steps, but ended up resetting my wireless service or something. Anyways, whatever they did didn't work immediately, so as far as I knew, it was still broken. So I was referred to the Sprint Technical Phone Number or whatever, and while I was on the phone with them, my EV symbol popped right on in my top bar and the internet worked once again.

So if you are having this problem, there is no reason not to at least try this, because whatever they did seemed to work for me. :)
