Sent them an email last week asking about voice to text and also g-sensors calibration being missing and this is the reply

Dear *****,

Thank you for your email. These options are not included in the Official HTC 2.1 Release for the Hero. The reasons for not including these are down to Google Android who develop the Applications and what devices and updates will include them. Thanks for contacting HTC. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

You can get the search by voice APK and install it. The Villain guys included it in their rom, as did 42turkeys and a couple other guys. I don't remember exactly where to get it though.

The calibration though is rather foolish. Why would they leave that out.

How can I get voice to text without a custom ROM?

Im surprised there is not more outrage that there is no voice to text in 2.1 for hero. Its the one feature I was looking fwd to.

Found the APK in google in a matter of seconds, installed it on my Desire and on my Hero.

Can now voice search in the search fields, including cool "shortcuts", like saying "navigate to mcdonalds" starts the navigation app. Also use it to do speech to text in handcent when writing friends who speak English.

Your pronunciation has to be spot on though and there's a lot of words it doesn't recognize. I'm guessing it will improve when the product is more mature.

Edit: I'm running the stock HTC firmware on both handsets, no need to root the phone or install a custom ROM to get speech to text working

Haiz you forgot to include in your quoted mail :D
"CONFIDENTIALITY NOTE : The information in this e-mail is confidential and privileged; it is intended for use solely by the individual or entity named as the recipient hereof. Disclosure, copying, distribution, or use of the contents of this e-mail by persons other than the intended recipient is strictly prohibited and may violate applicable laws."

Btw write him again to explain this better you. What he said isn't yet a sufficing answer and I dont believe even entirely true. You have trouble with the G-sensor and the option for changing-calibrating should be there.

You can tell him that you have trouble with the GOOGLE ANDROID added HTC Sense. OR GOOGLE ANDROID added HTC mail and few other services... that answer was more like an excuse
