Is there a limit to how many times you can use AT&T's 30-day policy?

I bought the HTC Aria from Best Buy since they have no restocking fee, and no rebate hassle. Although, I'm starting to gain more interest in the Captivate. I'm thinking about returning my Aria at the end of my 30 day trial, and having my contract reverted back. After my eligibility returns (they said it takes a few days for it to show in the system), I'll get the Captivate.

But if within the next 30 days, I find that I'm not happy with the Captivate, can I return it and revert my contract with AT&T again, or is it a one-time thing? Also, if I can do it again, how many times can I do it?

I would say that you need to read the contract. I can't answer your question, but I will say that I used it once. I knew a newer BB was coming out in a month, but I broke my existing device in a motorcycle accident. So I got a new replacement device and then traded it in after about 25 days. This was in 2005, not sure if they are better, but in my case, I ended up with a $450 credit that took them about 3 months to process. That was painful.

Since you purchased at Best Buy it is their return policy, not ATT. ATT has a 30 day return policy with 1 exchange with a 35 dollar restocking fee on all phones except Apple products which is 10%. You would have to check with Best Buy Mobile to see how many times you can exchange the phone for a new model.

I wasn't referring to the return policy of the phone, I was referring to the 30-day trial period of the contract extension.

But I now plan on buying the Captivate w/o contract since it's so cheap, so it's not really a concern anymore.

Exactly what I said is how it works. Your contract is your phone essentially.

I know what Best Buy's policy is with the physical phones. I wasn't asking about that. I wanted to know is if AT&T would allow me another 30 period to cancel my contract without an ETF. The return policy for the physical phone and the contract aren't necessarily the same. In fact, the return policy for a phone at Costco is 90 days. But AT&T's trial period is still 30 days. So if I return a phone to costco on the 31st day, I'll get a full refund from Costco, but I'd still be stuck with the contract with AT&T. If I chose to cancel, I'd be hit with an ETF.

So if I were to return the Aria, and buy a Captivate at Best Buy. I know I'll get another 30 days to return the Captivate for a full refund and no restocking fee. But what I wasn't sure about is if I'd get another 30 days from AT&T to cancel the contract without being hit with an ETF.

I doubt it. The 30 days is basically to make sure you are comfortable with the service. IE you can get coverage where you normally travel. That has little to do with the phone itself (unless you have an iPhone4 ).

Call AT&T to make sure, but I am pretty sure they will tell you that you only have a single 30 day period to cancel your service without the ETF charge.
