Help Change Startup Sound

Is there any way I can change the startup sound for the droid separately from all the other notifications?

No but, you can change email to a different sound separate from the notification.

Yeah, I'd like to know how to turn it off or change it.

I turn my phone on in places where I can't have Droid pouring out and everyone looking at me like I'm an idiot. I am an idiot, but I don't like that look.

If you have your phone is silent or vibrate mode when you shut it off, the sound will not play when you turn it on.

Actually, you are supposed to be able to change the startup sound by going through the following steps:

Settings --> Sound & Display --> Notification Ringtone

Then make a selection. The notification sounds for Email and Text Messages are set up through those respective applications.

HOWEVER, I have found that changing the startup ringtone to anything but the default "DROID" (or the other ringtones that came with the phone) just makes a series of "beeps" instead of playing the sound you selected.

I'm still trying to find a fix for this: "How do you set the startup ringtone to one of your personally downloaded sound bites AND have it actually play that sound?"

With an unlocked device you are out of luck - no access to "notification ringtone' That annoying series of power on sound + cute Tattoo squeak + VERY ANNOYING ANDROID SOUND = I may ditch this stupid phone for an Apple iphone.

if you have a rooted droid you can drop the sound files directly into the notifications folder /system/media/audio/notifications if it's in there as an ogg it will play on startup. HOORAY

I don't have a rooted Droid but I did force the 2.0.1 update and after doing so my phone never makes any sound when turning the phone on. No "DROID", no default ringtone, nothing. Pure silence.

I tried your suggestion to turn off all sound in settings, but it made no difference on my Tattoo/v1.6. Same triplet of songs/noises.
