hey folks. im making a site at the minute and i'd like to view it on my phone too. so was wondering if you guys could help me out with a few questions?!...

can the desire's browser read:
javascript?
any flash at all?
css files linked to html files?

if there is a page which contains any content that cannot be seen by the browser, what will its reaction be?!

thanks all
Kris

thanks. the page i have made has a flash header and ive tried using scripts to tell any browser thats non flash equipped to divert to another page or (using a different script) to display an image instead of the flash header, but the browser just loads nothing!!! grr

also, does anyone know why when you load google, the address bar then disappears but doesnt on some other sites!?!...

thanks for your reply reines!

it goes away when the page is fully loaded. It will go away quicker loading google because the page download is comparatively very small.

Just a point relating to the subject. I'm super impressed with internet browsing on the Desire. Apart from core use, internet access is essential to me and coming from the iPhone I didnt know how it would compare but my Desire is far superior to my iPhone 3G.

Can't agree more... Until using the desire I thought the browsing on my iPod Touch was outstanding and the best I had experienced on a mobile device. The desire though blows it out off the water.:D

Only have experience using DolphinHD but its so much faster than my ipod at rendering pages over the same wifi connection and theres absolutely no lag when panning around large pages unlike the ipod and yes I do like flash so thats a plus as well. Also the higher res screen makes everything look much nicer and easier to read.

Just my 2p

Yes, but people, android really sucks when it comes down to bookmark management, no decent browser supports labeling or folders, and it's really starting to annoy me, seeing how the iPhone has that sorted from the start. Hope HTC do something with the froyo build, because firefox is a long way down the waiting line...

A better way to handle the flash header is using javascript load the header if flash is present. There is a project out there for it. Just can't remember what it is called.

Maybe try using the service MOBIFY - Mobile Web Design to help you create a simpler mobile solution
