Is there any way to black list a contact from your incoming calls and messages? I got someone who will not leave me alone no matter what I try.. any way to block them entirely from my Droid without getting Verizon involved or having to change my number?

Blacklist blocks unwanted SMS messages without producing any notification (sound /light/popup) and hide these messages at handcent,it can block spam sms or hide messages for privacy (you can set password for blacklist)

how to add people to blacklist:
1. long press the thread of the people that you want to block
2. choose "blacklist" at the context menu and confirm
3. the thread will disappear (you can unblacklist it and view all block message later)

go to verizonwireless page. Login into your account, go to safe guards & add the # in the call & messaging block area. have uptp 5 numbers.

^ This. The salesman at Verizon lied to me and told me this wasn't possible. I ended up buying a texting plan for my Dad because he was getting random texts from the same dude about parties. It was funny but sucked at the same time. Just know that the block only lasts 90 days and you'll have to re-enter then numbers on the site when they expire.

When I got home I found out you can block the numbers from the VZW website, but now if I want to get rid of his texting plan it's $.20 per text rather than the $.10 it used to be. Such is life.

Will that also block if on my Verizon number as well?

GV will only block your GV number not your Verizon number so it won't help if they have your current number.
Thats why you are supposed to set up google voice to redirect any calls made to your current number, to your voice number. Google voice can block anyone you want from calling your phone, you just need to set it up right.
