New Droid, 1 hour, 3 crashes

Well I just bought a Droid and crashing 3 times in the first hour is taking some of the shine off of it.

First crash, setting Gmail account.

Second crash, using maps to see my old house.

Third crash, going through settings menu.

Not happy!

Other than that, first impressions Just bought a Droid - First impressions - Mobile Verve - Mobile Phone Forum

I hope there is a common bug that's easy to fix. I'm going to start looking. Not what I wanted to do after bringing it home.

Bring it back-I am having my 3rd one delivered tomorrow-last chance I will give them. I love the phone, but I can't have it crashing all the time. Most likely it is the software, but they are not updating it until after the period of time that you can just return it. I wonder......is that on purpose

It needs to get resolved before the trial period is over with Verizon, otherwise I'm with you, can't wait it out. I'll see how a second phone behaves. I can't have this instability. Really, I'm quite surprised. I was thinking there might be some bugs given 2.0 is new, but this is way beyond bugs. Unusable. I did not even load anything 3rd party on it yet.

I've read a lot of these, but never, ever experienced any of this.

Are you making sure your micro usb is perfectly in? It can be in, and still at what I would surmise at a 12 degree angle. Again, is it PERFECTLY lodged in?

Grab your droid, then look at the plug in it....is it off a bit?

Just a thought! These reboots have me scared, but I have NEVER experienced it, so I'm happy!

edit: and apparently I have an early droid build date~!!

No crashes yet, and I've given it a pretty heavy workout in the last 24 hours, especially with the camera. I haven't added any apps, but I would suggest if you do, only add one at a time until you're sure it's stable.

MS fought this for a long time -- misbehaving programs bringing down the whole system. It's much, much rarer now, but Android is a relatively new OS and for all their bluster, Google doesn't have any smarter engineers. All this stuff will take time --sigh--.

I haven't even used the USB port yet. The phone was setup by Bestbuy, and I just brought it home. Your post got me to thinking though, I looked around and did not see anything that looked out of place. The phone looks like it was setup correctly.

I'm assuming it must be a hardware issue since others on the same OS version are not experiencing this issue. Maybe I just got a bad phone. But I'm seriously having problems at the moment getting faith back in Motorola. I've had a dog with them in the past.

I would for sure not use open home. With all my widgets running on all 3 screns my program mem was at 39mem and was running like crap(after I loaded my widgets). So I uninstalled open home and my program mem went back to 91 with all the same widgets and my phone was not slow at all.

I really don't know why open home is such a hog. Its just not worth it. Buggy too

I just picked up my third one tonight. Never had the reboot problem. First droid had static in every phone call. Second droid started acting crazy with the vibration on any button press. Sometimes i wouldn't feel anything and then sometimes it was loud and sounded like it was breaking. Great phone - I'm just hoping I had bad luck with the first two and that these phones aren't this poorly designed.
