1. Is anyone aware if Verizon sticking with the Unlimited plan or will they do the tiered data plan alike AT&T? Will the X upgraders be burdered with this?

2. How much data do you use? What is average data usage?

I averaged:

6/01 - 6/07: 602,627 KB. (Got my Incredible on June 1st... this is funny to me)
5/08 - 5/31: 411, 534 KB. (Storm 2 I guess doesn't have any love)

I'm interested to see how my past month panned out when I see the statement.

I think that's so stupid. I mean come on. It's saving the customer money? That crap and VZW knows it. We pay the money to get unlimited even if it might be inflated which I don't think it is but we pay it they shouldn't cap us just cause. It'll be so much more expensive to own a smartphone if they do. I don't want to have to moniter my usage ever. It's called customer choice not corporate greed.

They are capping you now. ;) Even with "unlimited" there are data caps. All internet providers have caps these days because of the increased number of sites that stream content.

And I don't agree with that either. It all comes down to money. If Verizon wants to someone to run the race with they should look to Sprint not AT&T with their lawsuits and more than obvious cries for help with their hundreds of dollar increases on everything over there.

I don't think this is 100% money driven. I think this is also based on the fact that AT&T's network suffered tremendously from iPhone subscribers and the unlimited amount of resources they were using.

Verizon has to prepare and ensure that they can handle all of their subscribers. I want to ensure that I have the best service possible. If I get my DX and only end up maxing out @ 1.5gb/month, then I wouldn't mind spending for a 2GB data plan rather than a 3 or higher... (so long as this is less than $30/month)

My thing is this as long as the prices don't go higher than 30 a month I'll be fine with it but as far as I understand AT&T jacked up the prices beyond belief in their tiered plan.

Yeah they should atleast if they are going to go to a tier have 3 options say 5gb, 2gb and something below that not go with what at&t did with their highest being 2 or 3. Its all to make more money on overages which is bs. I may switch to tmobile or something if they go with low tier numbers and t mobile sticks with unlimited

Then they shouldn't be allowed to call it unlimited if its not unlimited. I like how they give you 2g for tethering on top of your unlimited data plan. Wtf its unlimited ! Do they use a different dictionary than the rest of us?

I've been using a pda/smartphone on verizon for the past 6 years. Mostly windows mobile before android (short test period on blackberry and palm). My average data usage before android was between 200 to 300MB a month with my work and personal emails either being pushed or polled in 5 minute intervals.

after switching to my Moto Droid last November, my usage has averaged about 3GB/month with one month at nearly 9GB.

I expect my usage to go up even more once I get the X. with that large screen, it would be perfect to stream videos/tv etc.

i use between 4 - 10 gigs a month every month. Its really not that hard at all. video streaming , audio streaming for hours and hours a day. I have no wifi at home or at work so im 3g everyday all day. If verizon has a data cap on their UNLIMITED plan maybe someone should tell them. Because they have NEVER capped my phone usage. I have a 3g usb modem at home which is capped at 5. well i wouldn't say capped because you can go over but pay more. I think its funny how someone who has wifi everywhere they go can just assume that everyone does. *oh anyone who uses more than 2 megabytes is a data hog and ruining it for everyone* please, if you dont use it fine. I pay for it and im sure as heck gonna use it. *sarcasm* i pay for health insurance but im not gonna use it because i dont want to be an insurance hog. It makes it hard on other people who pay for healthcare. *end sarcasm* please just please. You pay for UNLIMITED. Use it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I doubt that AT&T did it cause it they were hurt bad by all the iPhone users. It's chase they don't put enough money into their towers so they don't have the best coverage. IMO Verizon doesn't need to do tiered anything. I would drawl more customers to them because AT&T is pushin ppl away by making them pay even more for a tiered plan than they were for unlimited to begin with. If Verizon does get the iPhone which has been a rumor for forever, they would be wise not to tier it or ppl would leave possibly even me. I don't want to pay more for capped data. If I'm paying for unlimited I plan on using it in an unlimited fashion. I'll use all of that I possibly can.
