So I have had a task killer app for a while now but the battery is still horrible. Wasn't the update opposed to help too? Put it this way if my phone is unplugged for 10 minutes even having killed all tasks my battery will be at 80%. Friday night I went out about 9pm at barclose my phone was completely dead. That's pathetic? Any other suggestions?

P.s. Save the rude ass comments like return the phone because we all know I can't:)

Thanks
Tex

Supposedly, the task killer apps don't really do much. I say supposedly because I really don't know, but that's been a hot issue here.

My batterly life has been okay, I actually had a task killer and removed it on the advise of people here, and haven't noticed a battery difference.

Some of the common advice to help battery life would be to disable "Always on" mobile networks, and lower the screen brightness if you are inside most of the day.

I think the majority of people here will tell you that using a task killer indiscriminatley will cause problems all by itself.

When I had battery issues my up and awake time were equal, that is indicative of a problem. When my phone is sleeping properly battery becomes a non issue and that is without turning everything off (except 4g). I dont use facebook, but let everything else sync as per the default settings.

it's simple bro..turn off mobile connection if your not using it..it will be like night and day how much longer your battery last..heck you can leave the gps on if you want..all i'm saying is think of your phone as a laptop which is constantly updating while connected to the internet while its off the charger..laptops only last maybe tops at 4 hours if your using it..then think of our little phone constantly recieving updated info..can you really blame our little phones for dying so quickly with the internet running all day long?

What do you want? You do not want to be told how it has been fixed for others and you do not want to be told to send it back.

I am sorry but sometimes the phone and the person just can not get along.

This seems to be that case.
So, lets look at the options.

1.) Sell the phone on ebay, use the money to buy a phone that will work for you.
2.) Buy a second battery and charger.
3.) Return the phone.

Now I do not know you, why cant you return the phone?

I'd agree with the above, (Mallo) especially (**should have said only) if you are frequently in spotty coverage areas. I generally travel all over OC in socal for work, and notice that when I am in good coverage my battery life is exceptional, however when I am in poor reception areas the battery does drain much quicker.

I don't agree with this.

I had a blackberry before the EVO that I kept Google Talk, Live Messenger, Sports Score Apps, etc... running all of the time. It also would pull email from my OWA every ten minutes while Gmail was pushed to the native client.

That didn't have any negative effects on the battery.

What do you want. He already ran down the list of things that has not worked for him. You can not glue two popsicle sticks together and go to the moon.

If he tried everything in the battery thread, then he is going to find a way to live with the phone or get rid of it.

It is called being realistic.

Seriously, if nothing works, what would you have him do?

Telling him to sell the phone, buy a battery, or return the phone is not snooty it is what the real world facts lead to.

If you can not handle that, sorry.

The battery situation is different for everyone. All I did was calibrated the battery and turned off 4G when I'm not in 4G zone. Again I don't know if you're asking for help or ranting, because all the help is in the battery sticky thread already. So you can either help yourself or do like RiverOfIce said.

It's not a matter of handling anything, I know his frustration simply because prior to the last update my phone wouldnt sleep and battery life was terrible. I tried all the tips and tricks to no avail, I couldnt track down what created the problem. After the update all is well.

As for his situation, reaching out for help is all that can be done, he doesnt need people like you leaving sideways comments/advice. Its just my opinion, but Ive seen quite a few similar useless and confronting post from you, perhaps i just misinterpreted them.

Okay as you've found out the Task Killer is a waste so dump it.
Have you tried to condition the battery?
Did you change the auto synch schedules to something reasonable?
Did you turn off sign out of the googleTalk (not the service) application and set it to not auto log in?
The best you can expect is this: http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/114550-last-battery-post.html

I have found that charging the battery outside the phone in a dedicated charger makes a huge difference. Also, watching the battery charge in the phone and taking it off right when it reaches 100% will have the same effect. I know it's been talked about in other threads, but whatever the EVO is set up to do once the battery reaches 100% charge is causing the immediate drop if left charging in the EVO for some time after. So, the typical pattern of charging over night actually causes the immediate drop.

I can also highly recommend JuiceDefender, which will increase the battery life during standby dramatically. It mostly keeps the 3G data turned off while the screen is off, so it really helps.

Don't think your Blackberry had a 4.3inch lcd screen to light up either.

I've accepted the shortfalls (battery life)of this monster of a device. I only sync when I'm actually about to check my email or facebook. I'm a casual user of the phone and it's not used for business so not a requirement to respond quickly to an email. I keep GPS on so when doing google searches\navigation or whatever it's there. Only use WIFI at home and turn on my bluetooth when I'm driving.

Yes it would be nice to have all those things running but those are the breaks.

for everyone out there if the phone doesn't meet your needs buy or trade it for a new one. for me this phone is perfect!!

Ive seen quite a few similar useless and confronting post from you, perhaps i just misinterpreted them.

I am not a fanboi and I will not sugarcoat problems.

Everything that has been said in this thread has been covered a hundred times before in other threads, if it did not work before, it will not work now.

In the technology world you learn three basic lessons.

1.) There are always flaws.
2.) Self realization of unworkable problems means less down time.
3.) Complaining about the above two lessons gets you no where.

My phone is a tool, it has to work now and when I need it. I will not baby it, I will not cuddle it. If the tool does not function, you either;
1.) Learn to deal with the flaws.
2.) Find another tool that will work as a tool.
3.) Learn to read, re-read, re-re-read what has been posted and documented before. So you can actually bring matter to the subject and not just complaints.

He did not post in the battery thread? Why? Because this is not meant to help him. If he wanted help he would have gone to the battery thread.

You see how that works?

So this is a mindless rant in which we are going to regurgitate what has already been said, and scream at each other until the thread is locked.

I wish to god the mods would simply lock these threads and point the problem the sticky that already exists.
