Orange 3G in Central London

I've been having problems accessing 3G on Orange using my HTC Desire whilst in Central London. It seems to work fine out and about near home in South West London, but whilst at work in Central London, I just can't seem to get any access to 3G.

Anyone have any ideas? It's only been this bad for the last few weeks.

I've invested in the pebble, so will be less likely to switch off my Desire, and therefore it shouldn't have a problem finding the network, but once my pebble arrives I will update again, but just wondered if anyone else has this problem with Orange 3G??

Oddly enough, I'm sitting in London right now, near Euston station to be exact. It can be temperamental at times but I do still get good 3G signal quite often. No idea what this means but hope it helps.

I can't say I'm 100% happy with the signal either, never seems to be there when I need it most. Maybe that's just my bad luck.

Common problem, a number of threads about it... Have a little search for full details...

I'm on Orange and have good and bad days at work (Central London), signal strength is spot on, but no data sent or received... Tends to be on 3G and works again when H comes back... Think it is a number of issues, one of which is network congestion...

im up in leeds and i never get a H signal.
usually a 3g sometimes if im a lucky a 3g+

I was thinking was I the only one.
I have a hard getting on the net when using 3g (usually low signal too)
but I can’t at times make or receive calls, even using G

Like you, i'm on Orange and it can be very difficult to get a signal sometimes.

I've been having the same 3g issues. I called Orange and they said they were having trouble fixing some antennas in the area and that I should turn the phone to 2g only and manually select orange rather than the phone find it automatically. That fixed the reception issue

Then Called up a few days later for an update and they said they were still fixing it, I said I wanted some money off my bill because Im paying for a service I'm not getting, they agreed and are knocking

Unfortunately they may be lying.
There is something wrong with the Desire ROM on Orange (and some other networks that haven't done a system update) that means the 3g signal especially internet is woeful, no bandwidth, dropping calls, rejected messages, unsendable texts etc. there are many threads about this.
your phone may be ok (it's random) and the mast may be down.... but....
Take a search elsewhere and see what i mean.

LOL. I've said quite a few times that i get 3G+ but never H.
