Somehow I have what looks like dust or small pocket lent on the inside of my incredible. I took it to the verizon store and they told me I shouldnt put it in my pocket. BS. Not sure how it got in there I dont think theres a path through the speaker holes. I did not use a case. Anyone else have dust or dirt on the inside of the screen?

Did you get the name of the genius who told you not to pocket your phone? I would be on the horn with the store manager on up if someone told me that with a straight face.

That's on par with Steve Jobs reaction.

I do, all the time. I don't use a bluetooth headset and the speaker quality of my phone sucks. So I hold it. Usually in my left hand, too... even though I am right handed.

I use mine in the left hand all the time in the car (well not ALL the time, I try to avoid talking and driving). I don't use my BlueTooth unless I plan on making/getting a call. And I drive a stick shift, so right had doesn't work so well.

I'm pretty certain he was being sarcastic.

I would hope so.

Except that I have had 2, yes TWO, Apple Fanboys say this to me in the last week. Both were 100% serious. I just started at them dumbfounded as they explained to me that everyone and their grandma uses bluetooth now and no one, NO ONE AT ALL, ever holds their phone.

They also tried to convice me that very few people even make calls anymore because you can just text.

The three knuckleheads that I saw texting on their phones while cruising down the highway at 70+ today must be disciples to that.

To answer the OP, I used the N1 case so my phone is never naked in my pocket. Bummer if you got lint under your screen, but I've read that can be an issue on some phone models.

I had this happen to me and my first Palm Centro. Wood dust worked it's way into the screen in just a few days from having it in my pocket at work. I took it back (they told me to keep it out of my pocket and in a case if I'm in such an environment..) I ignored their advice, and the second one never got a speck of dust in in for the next 2 years. Simply a faulty seal from the factory.

I'm sure this is the case with yours. Do however be careful about which pocket, how tight your pants are, etc. My son has cracked a couple of phone screens from pocket storage. I decided to start carrying my Inc in a holster for just that reason. They are too good of a phone, and too hard to replace right now to risk breaking.

Good luck.

WOW. Don't put it in your pocket. Steve Jobs line for sure.

What does he want you to do, hold it in between your teeth?

Take it back. Particles in between your screen is totally unacceptable and they have no recourse but to accept your warranty claim.

Be stern and confident but not rude. Let them know you mean business.

Did you mention that LCD technology is so last decade? Or that 3.5" displays are the new 3.2"?

LOL. I have pretty much given up on trying to talk to the hardcore apple fans. Its fun at first but after a while I feel like I have just been banging my head on a brick wall.

I did patiently wait until after their rant was over and say "so next you are going to tell me that your dad can beat up my dad, huh?" :D

Got a good laugh from everyone while the guy just sort of pouted.

I guess if you're on AT&T the people you call can't hear you anyways so you might as well use a bluetooth headset

Hahahahahaha. Bluetooth headsets are antisocial. I use one when I am driving (if I remember it) but never in public and have a stereo one for music (great sound quality, lack of wire is nice). Looks like I am talking to myself.

I don't use Bluetooth for anything but audio.
Just never been a fan of the dumb looking ear pieces

Gotta say I agree with ya on that one. When I see one of those earpieces in someones ear I want to punch a baby or what it it y'all say around here, kill a kitten? :D I used to feel the same about Nextel push to talk conversations. I got kicked out of a diner once when I blew a portable airhorn off a few times at the dude in the next booth while I was forced to listen to BOTH sides of his conversation screaming in his walkie talkie phone. I deserved it though as I took it in with me just hoping I had to listen to the crap. Took all of 5 minutes and I was asked to leave. Used to love the 10-4's when they talked on those phones to.

In regards to the OP, sorry about your phone and as others said, what you was told is BS, it was manufactured that way. I'd go right back to that store, find that dude and politely ask him to please get his manager for you. Hopefully he wasn't the one that sold you the phone as well.

I also had quite a bit of dust under my screen right where the speaker should be. Have no idea how it got there, but it bugged me to death. I ended up taking it back to verizon after the speaker blew (thank god) because I knew that they would do the whole "pocket" run around on me as well.

Does anyone know why they act like WWIII will break out if they warranty your phone? The guy sat there and was like "It won't get any clearer than that" when i took it in for the speaker. So I kindly asked him to get another incredible to compare it to (mine crackled something fierce) and he was like "well I guess I can warranty it if you want" after going back and talking to the manager.

I wish this didn't have to be such a big fight when trying to warranty your phone. It's not like it costs them anything to do it other than time.

On another note, my new phone is fantastic and I got the seidio case for it and the screen looks AMAZING compared to my old one (launch day model) makes the old phone look washed out on colors.

While it sucks that it had to be such a PITA to do, I am glad that it all worked out for you!

I am going to be livid if my phone gets here and is messed up right out of the box. Really... WWIII just might actually break out! If you hear anything on the news next week about a Verizon store in Northern VA burning down you will know what happened :)
