Well, I've been waiting for my Incredible to come in because of the back order (it comes in, in about 6 days) and I hear about the Verizon letting people switch orders over to the X. Well my Verizon store isn't doing the X pre-orders but they ARE letting people switch over to the X if they bring in their Incredible that they pre-ordered. They don't have an X demo phone at my verizon either. So I can't really get my hands on one yet so I don't know how it performs. My question is which one do you think is better? Which is gonna get the most updates, more useful, stuff like that. I've seen videos but they don't really cover the whole phone, its just a simple overview, so I have no idea which to chose, should I just keep the Incredible or what?

They will probably get equal updates.

Performance will be very similar - but the Incredible has a slight edge in speed according to tech sites.

It pretty much comes down to size. You should check out the HD2 at the store, or the EVO at a sprint store. If you like that size, you will like the X.

X is not coming with froyo which dispels any rumors that Motorola phones get quicker updates than HTC.

as a noob myself i will tell you there are tons of comparison threads on this site talking exactly about what your asking...i've read at least 3 or 4..they're not hard to find.

i also would like to see how if fits in my hands. i have big hands and i'm a decent size guy...6'6 250...so i think it should be ok. I called my local Corp store and they said they didn't have one either...but i think they're lying for one thing isn't there usually some training for the Reps on new phones before they come out?

X doesn't get froyo? or it just doesn't come with it initially, but you can update it? I heard that the DI is going to get an update soon thats going to have it be able to capture 720 p and everything. Like i've said, the reviews i find are just quick overviews so I am completely lost, ha. So you say the incredible has the edge in speed? is that browser or overall?

I have seen videos. See, I'm a tiny dude, lol. 5'5". Bout 135 lb. I don't wanna have to put this thing in a radio flyer to cary it around. ha. I can't actually ask the people who do reviews, so thats why i posted a reply, so I can actually "interview" the people who have each. I really appreciate the replies aswell, you guys are quick.

Correct, it's not releasing with Froyo. Whenever they get around to pushing out the update, the phone will get it. Same with DINC.

The update that the DINC is getting is not Froyo, it's just an update to fix some call quality issues and to add WiFi Hotspot and 720p. Both of which the X will have at release.

Until the phone is in the consumers hands next week, all we really know about the X is the spec details.

X will eventually get Froyo - but it's not coming installed with froyo.

DI is rumored to be getting an update soon for 720p and an updated video boot. DI should also get Froyo by December.

The edge in speed came from CNET review:

"The Droid X has a 1GHz TI OMAP processor, and the phone has been quite responsive. It's not quite as lightning-fast as the Droid Incredible, but we were able to open multiple apps with little delay. There were a couple of instances, however, when we returned to the home screen and the background went completely black before returning to normal, so we'll keep an eye out for that as we continue testing. "

Damn, I was hoping someone could have gotten their hands on it, lol. So you guys really have no idea what to get? I mean battery life isn't too much of a problem for me. I can get an extended battery. I just..I've heard great things about the incredible, this is the phone that made me want a touch screen, I've never really liked touch screens till I played with this phone bout 2 months ago in the verizon store.

EDIT:

Cool, thanks Jamor. Alright, I think I'm stickin' to the incredible. I'm not too sure yet, I'll have 3 days to decide when I get the phone. Believe it or not you guys helped a lot, for what its worth, ha.

So you guys really have no idea what to get?

The problem is, no one can really tell you that :( It's just a matter of preference. Honestly, spec wise the phones are right on par with each other. Both have some pro's and con's that outweigh each other.

I could tell you that they will get all the same updates/support and around the same time but that is truly just speculation. No one can say for sure what will happen.

For me, I ordered the DINC and don't have even a passing thought about switching to the X. Even if I end up getting a dud and needing a replacement (oh, god forbid... knock on wood!!) I will wait for another DINC before getting the X.

I had my share of Moto phones and vowed never to get another. I am sticking to that vow. I also know 7 people who got the Moto Droid at launch (or shortly after) and only 1 of them is still satified (and she doesn't do anything but call/text anyway). 3 of them had to get replacements within a month of getting the phone. 5 have already upgraded and the other is planning to in 3 months with her NE2.

Edited to correct - my friends got the Moto Droid, not the X. So far I only personally know of one person that is planning to get an X and he waiting until it's been out a few weeks to get some user reports on it.

So the DI is no where near the back of the list for updates? Thats great. I think I read somehwere that its verizons top selling phone (that would explain the backorder, also, samsung screen issue) I'm just kind of worried that I'd mess up and I would get a phone that wouldn't get updates because I jumped on the band wagon too late.

I think you should decide if you want a phone or a brick. The difference is size and preference really. If you want something that acts as a very good media device buy the x. If you're looking for the best damn phone known to mankind as well as a decent media player pick the Dinc. Also on a side note I think sense is better that motoblur from my experiences with each.

Are you saying that the DI isn't as good as the X when it comes to being a media-fun device? I mean, I think I'm leaning towards the incredible, you guys have told me a lot more than I could find in videos. They're all "comparison" videos but they're just bout how they perform from the browser and the main screen.

EDIT:

Haha, Critical mass and Terebethia, thats great. And Its not whats on the outside that counts. Its on the inside (of your underwear) that counts. Ha.

LOL, not that anyone knows of. Someone with an HTC testing phone posted a video a week or two ago with the test software for their update. If it's already in testing it should be out soon.

If HTC is already releasing updates to the phone, I doubt that they have pushed it to the back burner. It IS their best selling phone at the moment.
