Has anyone tried these cases?

wow! that shell holster looks way more legit than the one i saw at the store yesterday. all the shops seem real thin on droid accessories.

to answer your question ,no havent tried ,but great find.

in the right circumstances i would order the shell holster!

I purhased the same Shell/Holster Combo when I bought the Eris...that I returned for the Droid. It was awesome, but was interested in how the same brand holster worked with the Droid's keyboard.

i'm using the side pouch and am pleased. i have a small review on it on an existing thread.

Thanks! It's obviously not a magnetic closure or it wouldn't work...I tried several universal cases with magnetic closures and the Droid turned on (from off) when I put it in the cases.

If it's velcro, or some small magnetic snap that doesn't affect the Droid, I think I'll just order both...they have different purposes anyway.

I got lucky this morning and found both cases at another VZW store about 20 miles from me. They are both awesome...bought them both. The leather one is as much protection as I've seen while still being dressy, if you want it like that.

The really beauty is the Shell/Holster Combo...it is absolutely fantastic! First of all, it was made by Motorola precisely for the Droid and IMHO it's simply perfect. It is barely noticeable when on the Droid (thin, rubberized, but very durable) polycarbonate construction and all sides and corners of the phone are very well protected. There is a separate snap-on piece for the top. And the other nice thing is that being rubberized and fitting so well, it won't damage the phone like some of the other cases (Club Glove comes to mind). I feel as if I drop my Droid now that nothing at all will happen to it...it's that well protected.

Another cool thing is if you take it out of the (very nice) belt holster with a "real" belt clip, it still fits into the leather case because of its thin construction.

If you can get both...do it. If not, go with the Shell/Holster.

i'm sure they have a shell/holster combo for the motorola droid...

but the link you posted was for the HTC Droid Eris...this is what the description of the shell/holster combo you posted in the original link...

Allows your HTC Droid Eris to be worn on a waistband or belt and can be taken off of the belt clip without removing it. Advanced locking mechanism securely holds phone in place.

It's a misprint on the Verizon page. The one pictured on the page for my link is definitely the one for the Moto Droid....notice it's square. I have it sitting right here in front of me and that's it. The one for the Eris is exactly the same, only a little smaller and with rounded edges to fit it. That one I bought at the Verizon store when I bought the Eris on launch day...then later got the droid.

Also, I'm looking at the part # for the CORRECT case that I just bought here locally...it's what is on that link page (PART# MOTA855HOC1).

The only confusion in all this is that Verizon needs some better folks working on their website :) But thanks for bringing this up.

I bought the shell/hoster combo but returned it cuz the top corner by the volume switch wouldn't stay clipped on. I tried another one and had the same problem. I ended up with the Body Glove cover, which is very nice also, but the shell/hoster combo was nicer and different.

Hmmm...mine is a little easier to pull off from that corner, but it still stays on. And there is no way the entire case is coming off if it's dropped. And then even if it did, the impact to the sidewalk (worst case) would be to the case first and not the phone. I just wish they'd have made the finish slightly rubberized instead of so slick and shiny. It looks great...but in your hand it's an accident waiting to happen.

I was using the Body Glove shell/holster and it was horrendous. Everytime I tried to take it off, it felt like I would snap the entire phone in half. I returned it today for the Shell/Holster (MOTA855HOC1) and it is like NIGHT and DAY. Not only is it a shell that offers decent protection for the phone (along with my PhantomSkinz screen protector, it is armor all around) but the belt clip holster is FANTASTIC! The shelled phone slides right into it and stays sturdy in place. This Shell/Holster Combo is something like I'd expect from a company like Seidio! But I can't believe it is a launch case/shell/holster by Motorola. Usually launch cases sold by Verizon are horrible; but this is golden!

It IS a little looser by the volume control rocker switch but it clips in perfectly. I like how it is MUCH easier to take off because I put my Droid into the multimedia cradle each night and it doesn't feel like I'm aboot to rip the screen from the keyboard section. It is well worth the $29.99 price. And now the waiting game comes from the folks at www.seidioonline.com to see if they can design an even more superior product (and I have a feeling they are with their InnoCase and spring lock holster combo, but we'll see). I know I'll be picking up a Seidio Extended Battery ASAP!

PLEASE post as many pics of the shell/holster as possible. I have never seen it in my local stores and the pic on the page linked here doesn't show it from all angles.

Thanks!

Hmmm, if it is as easy to remove as everyone is saying, I might consider moving to this as it would provide me with an all in one solution - but does it feel like it may stretch out after repeated application and removal? because that would suck....buying this thing for $30 only to have it wear out in 6 months is not my idea of spending wisely....

I am still leaning toward the ones on Walmart by Case Logic....

No, I guarantee you'll LOVE this case. If you don't believe me, Verizon has a try before you buy. You can open it up and put it on your phone if you find it in the store and then if you buy it, they offer 30 days no questions asked return policy. It also comes with a 90-day limited warranty but this thing will NOT stretch out UNLESS you purposefully yank and bend it. This Shell/Holster Combo is durable!

You could also wait for a Seidio case too. They should be coming out soon, keep an eye at: seidioonline.com and sign up for updates via e-mail.

I'd get this Motorola Shell/Holster Combo now and a PhantomSkinz screen protector for the ultimate in pre-emptive strike against accidental droppage, scratches, ect. The Shell/Holster Combo and a www.phantomskinz.com screen-protector is, IMHO, teh ultimate in protection right now.

I can post pics of the case with and without it installed tonight. I'll post a whole slew of good quality pics for you later on tonight!

I'm thinking of purchasing Verizon's leather side pouch as well. What material is the lining of this pouch made of? Is it Velvet-ish? Does anyone have pictures of this pouch with the Droid inserted? Thanks! :D
The interior is not velvet or similarly lined. It is more like a nylon and the main reason I didn't buy it. I think a case like that should be 100% lined in the softest material possible like microfiber.

I just got the shell/holster combo, replaced the silicone gel hardcase I had previously on my droid. I like this one much more, it's up the quality level of similar Seidio combinations I have seen for the iPhone. The fit is fantastic and amazingly it hardly adds any bulk at all. The holster is beautiful too, mating perfectly to the shell and it has an excellent sturdy rotating belt clip. All I need now is a great 100% coverage static attaching screen protector and I am all set!

Everyone who is so concerned about the safety of our displays, should go over to the actual Droid Support Forum on Motorola.com. I don't remember where over there I read it, but they explained what Motorola has gone through to make these displays MUCH more difficult to scratch than we think. They claim to have to most durable smartphone displays in the industry...I tend to believe them.

There's a YouTube movie of a guy dragging a key across the display and it truly does nothing. I hardly think a nylon backing in this case is going to harm the display...it sure hasn't yet on mine :)

While I agree with your points logically, I am still going to keep a screen protector on mine all the time and I personally would only put it in a soft case. It's not going to hurt anything being extra careful so why not? Besides I have read many stories on the iPhone forums about people finding scratches on their iPhone screens. They have threads over there that are many pages long debating the need for screen protection. Many swear by he naked screen saying it is virtually scratch proof. Then inevitably someone else says their screen is scratched and they have no idea how it happened.
