Problem with Shared Google Calendars with native Calendar App

Short Explanation:
Are any HTC Hero owners able to see events on Calendars that are Shared from Other gmail accounts. In the native calendar app on the HTC Hero?

Long Explanation:
I have been trying to determine if this is a limitation of the Calendar Application or a miss configuration my end. I have seen Android phones that can view subscribed calenders from other users before, but I am the only person I know to own a HTC andriod phone and on the Hero I can not see any of my subscribed calendars.

The gmail account tied to the the HTC hero has 6 calendars created through gmail interface. A short view of the accounts is listed below as an example of my problem.

My Calendars
A-Home ( Account Calendar)
A-Work ( Shared from Work account Full Access)
A-Lab (Shared from Work account Full Access)

Other Calendars
B-Home (Shared from another account Write Access)
B-Work (Shared from another account Write Access)
A-Boss (Shared from Bosses account Read Access)

So 5 of the calendars are shared and only the A-Home is an account calendar. In gmail any calendar that you have permission to share with other people shows up as a My calendar in the interface and all others appear as Other Calendars.

Willing to listen to suggestion and try other calendar applications if they exists. I require several work calendars for my job that describe the availability of various resources and it is an inconvenience to not be able to see them on my phone.

I have the Hero's My Calendar and Outlook both unchecked, but I have all these other calendars checked and their events appear on the Hero. They even appear with the Color setting which I assigned to each on my Google Calendar account too.

1. Google Account Calendar (synced with home Outlook)
2. Weather (from Google)
3. Oakland Raiders Calendar (from Yahoo Sports)
4. San Diego Chargers Calendar (from Yahoo Sports)
5. San Francisco 49ers Calendar (from Yahoo Sports)
6. Other GMail account Calendar (synced with Work Calendar)

DaWeav,
How did you get the sports calendars to show up on your Hero's Calendar application?

I use several sports calendars in google calendar on my PC, but none of them show up on my Hero (no, not a Raiders fan :) ). I don't see an option on Google Calendar to share those sports calendars, which I got via "Browse interesting calendars." The only option I have for those calendars is "unsubscribe."

I know I'm missing something, but I don't know what (otherwise, I guess I wouldn't be missing it :) ).

This is exactly my problem as well. For the life of me I haven't been able to get my sports calendars to show up on my Hero.

I read on google's help pages that they don't allow sports calendars to be accessed outside of calendar.gmail.com. Not sure why.

I think there is a way to subscribe to sports calendars through Yahoo's calendar system, and you can import that into your gmail calendar and get that onto your phone

So, in my rush / annoyance I did not think to check public calendars. I subscribed to Google US. Holidays and that was pushed to my phone with out delay, but all of the user calendars that are shared do not show up.

I took the time to unsubscribe from them all the other day and resubscribe thinking that maybe it needed to push the subscription event, but this does not seem to be the problem either. Let me create a fully public calendar and see if that will show up. Then I could at least narrow the problem to User Shared Calendars with limited permissions.

Thanks DaWeav and others who responded!

Yes, you don't use Google's sports calendars if you also want to see them on the Hero, you use Yahoo's (go figure!).

You need a yahoo account; log in, go to Yahoo Sports, to the league of your choice, to the team of your choice, to Score & Schedules (the one *under* the team banner, not the one closer to the top of the page), to Add to Calendar, to Synch with Google and then follow the clear instructions. You will be taken to Google Calendar; hit Refresh and then look on your phone :) :)

Thanks so much!

Ok, so a little more info on this issue.

A little review.
I have two accounts
Ig and Lu @Gmail.com

The phone is connected to the Lu account.

I remove all privileges from Lu of Ig's Calendars and then deleted all of his calendars for testing. Then I reshared Ig's main calendar with Lu. With the ability to see, but not edit. I then created a second calendar on Ig's account and shared it with Lu.

The new Calendar was pushed to the phone, but the old calendar which Lu had the ability to see before still does not show up. I assume this is just an issue with preexisting calendars on the HTC app. If I ever get the main calendar to show up I will post the process.

I am hopping that they can fix this issue as its really annoying to tell everyone you work with they need to delete your privileges and add you back just because your phone issues.

Alright,

I am filling this under not an issue.

I was reluctant to do it, but resetting the phone to factory conditions fixed the issue. I must have canceled the first sync in mid run and it caused a lot of false events that were preventing the sync from taking place.

Hopefully someone will find away to just delete all calendar cache later on and that likely would of cleared all this up. Thanks for the help. O hope this thread helps someone else out.

Maybe I didn't quite comprehend your original issue, but I'm not going to factory reset mine again (already did that trying to fix the awake time issue). I'll just re-read your original post to understand it better. My issue was more to do with the sports calendars not showing up, but that seems to have been answered. I'll follow Jimdroid's instructions for accessing them through Yahoo, though I'm not sure either why Google doesn't allow it.

Wow, this worked. AWESOME, and again AWESOME!! Thanks JD. Kind of a round about way, but the end result is the same. Makes my Hero even more useful and fun.

The Google limitation is that if the Google Calendar does not have an .XML format, then the Android phone won't show it at all apparently. There's lots postings on the Google support site about this .XML calendar thing and the best work around is to import the Yahoo or other calendars that support it.

In Google's favor, at least the calendars on the Hero appear with the same 'color' schema as I have setup for them on my Desktop's Google Calendar website.
