i've been hearing about the screen and the processor and so far every video i've seen backs it up. this video is just about the gpu side, after all its hard to grasp how good a screen is until you see it

those Inc owners are vicious. I think they are just pissed that they are stuck and know that there are some kick butt phones around the corner. You cant post anything without getting attacked. they got all my threads locked.
I was zeroed in on the X until I saw the Fascinate. Awesome phone. Has the Inc beat, although the Inc is nice for a first rounder.

I'd have to chime in here. I am a former Dinc owner. I'd have to say that phone owners get territorial. Dinc owners are no worse than future X or Fascinate owners. I'm just trying to say that we should be sensitive to each other.

Agree, but the way i was attacked, makes me not even want to own an Inc. and be associated w/ some of those cats. There are some bitter dudes in that bunch.

I was referring to contracts, etc.. Being locked into the Inc if you were outside your 30 day period. I'm almost glad my Inc got fried. I'm free to choose and it feels good. I'm just gonna sit back and play it cool like the big cool aid dude.

Yeah I know, I was just posting to point out that not all owners are created equal, e.g. I don't hate on anyone for hating on my phone. On the contract part, I upgraded to the Moto Droid in November ;) I just sell the phones back on ebay and buy the phones I want, but I fully intend to keep the Fascinate for a while (I hope). I know not every one is so inclined to eat 100-200 bucks every time they want a new phone, but not everyone is the same (as stated). :)

Phone tech is moving fast, so ALL devices have perpetual "little fish, big fish" syndrome.

I have an OC'd N900 and the Inc destroys the N900 for function- except of course the 32gb built-in and the keyboard.....

Man I wish the Epic was coming to VZW :) ;)

Ya know - it's all relative. We Incredible owners aren't necessarily a "vicious" bunch. The Incredible thread was a bumpy ride because there were a LOT of impatient people, myself included, who spent MONTHS waiting and watching the hot new Android phones all go to the other carriers. However, with the quality and quantity of new smartphones that are now showing up under the Big Red label, that long wait is finally over! I, for one, am absolutely thrilled with this phone and am not going to sit around and fret over what the next best "kick butt phone" might be. That's no way to live in the NOW... ya know?

Yes, the X and the Fascinate both have their merits and I'm sure that their followers and fans will love them just as much as we devout Incredible owners love our new toy. And really... who cares if some other phone has your phone "beat?" As long as you're happy with what you have, that's really all that matters!

Very well stated. I have a Droid now and am very happy with it, even though there are better phones available now.

After playing with AT&T's version of the Samsung Galaxy S , "Captivate" , which is my Brother in law's phone, I want a Fascinate BAD when they come to Verizon!
We had Three phones out playing around, My Incredible, a Droid X and the Captivate....let me tell you that the Samsung stole the show! That phone is just plain sick !!
**Really made the Moto X look like a piece of....nevermind, when we put them through the tests!!

I WANT A FASCINATE !!!!

ARE YOU LISTENING VERIZON !!!:D:D

Can you provide any more information? What made the Samsung 'steal the show'? If you really "put them through the tests" it would be nice to know your impression of how aspects like the UI, reception and call quality, build quality and so on compared. It's also nice to know things like if you are comparing the phones in their 'stock' configurations or if any are after some tweaking and modifying.

PS>> Have you seen the specs on the Galaxy S(2) slated to come out early 2011? 2Ghz, 32Gb sd, 1gb rom, 1080 Video, etc

Sick !!

I highly doubt this would come out less than one season after the 1st generation model (Fascinate). Come on, that would be poor business sense for Samsung/Verizon.

It would come out probably summer 2011. Look at the Droid 2. it's slated to come out roughly 1 year AFTER the original Droid.

I played with the Vibrant for T-Mobile.

The screen is amazing. Nicest I've ever seen, better than the iPhone 4's.

The processor (or combination of that plus TouchWiz) is VERY snappy, much moreso than the Incredible's.

The screen size is perfect.

The battery life, according to my old roomate that just got the Vibrant, is stellar, at least compared to the Incredible:

After a full day of moderate use, the battery was down to 50%. I'm sure 3G or wifi was on the whole time, and screen was at least 75% brightness and he was using it a lot (facebook, email, text) because I know his usage pattern.

This alone is why I might go from the Incredible to the Fascinate. Also, I hate the Incredible's charging "issue," where a green light if the phone was on while charging does not mean the battery is 100% charged.

I feel like HTC released an unpolished, untested product.

Im not hating on any phone.. just saying that the incredible is one of the most polished phones i have ever used.

Look at my sig... Saying that the incredible is unpolished means that your either a iphone fanboy or that you have not had many "smart phones" to compare..

i on the other hand have had experience with many smart type phones.. and many before the term smart phone was coined.. I had waaay more crashes with my iphone than i have ever had with my incredible... "from experience".

iPhone fanboy? Don't be ridiculous. I've converted many folks to Android, many of my friends and relatives.

I have no allegiance to any company or product and will gladly say if I think a product is lacking in XYZ.

I'm hyper critical of a product's UX and I can pick out very legitimate instances of "unpolish" about the Incredible and Sense.

If you think it's the most polished phone you've ever had, your usage pattern might be:

SMS
Phone Call
ON/OFF

and a few other basic things.

And "first smartphone" ? I'm not your grandma. I've used many mobile devices. They all have flaws, including the Incredible.

I'll admit I'm intrigued by the Fascinate with a 4" super amoled screen, but... no front facing camera? no flash? 5mp? no hdmi out? no 4g? (obviously not gonna have this yet) I'm just not seeing the Samsung as much of an upgrade from the Incredible such that I'm gonna sell the farm to buy a different one. Now, add those above features in to the Fascinate 2 next year and I'll easily make my annual upgrade to a Samsung phone over an HTC one.

Although I don't think Inc owners who have had since April should upgrade, but those just getting may consider it.
Front facing camera: although many will say video calling will use data for voice and video, Verizon will not launch a phone with ffc until it has simultaneous voice and data. It just will not happen. Sprint has it because 4G for video and 3g for voice.
No Flash: it does have camera flash, check before you say
5mp: this again, you people need to either do some reading or not post, meaning MP does not matter much.
HDMI: this may be valid but you can still use 3.5mm to tv out at 480p
Yeah, if you've had Inc for months, it is not worth it.
But if you are buying it right now then there's better out there, although Fascinate is not out yet.

You make great points for a side-by-side purchase comparison, and I'd probably lean towards the Fascinate. But it's just not much of an upgrade over the Incredible. I stand corrected on the flash. I think the recently released Captivate lacks a flash which is what I was using as a point of reference? I acknowledge that it's too soon for 4G and that a ffc won't show up without it. But there's no reason not to start including mini-hdmi on phones going forward. IMO, it's an oversight on anything with the kind of processing power and gpu performance as demonstrated with the hummingbird processor. And I'm pretty sure you can only get a 480i signal through analog composite video found in 3.5mm A/V connectors.

It seems that people are expecting more from the HDMI output than phones are providing. While I have yet to see a phone that is claimed to be HDCP compliant, there are HDMI 1.4 transmitters with HDCP available for mobile phones. So the technology seems to be there.

However, Digital Rights Management and licensing may be a major factor. A mobile phone is different than most media players in that it inherently already incorporates a video display and audio reproduction, connecting to external devices thus represents supporting a second device. Also, with Android smartphones you are dealing with an open, programmable environment. These factors may affect licensing and other aspects related to what can be transmitted via any digital media output on the phone.
