Accessories Extra long car charger cable?

Someone with more knowledge than me please help. I need to make/purchase a car charger for my Dinc, however I want the cable to be 5ft or longer. See I am really tall and the front power port sits in a spot where when something
is plugged into it it hits my knee, which is irritating and highly uncomfortable. Would it just be a matter of splicing the wires in to get the length I am looking for?

Just know that if it doesn't put out a TRUE 1 amp at 5 volts DC, it's going to take HOURS to charge your phone. I've gone through several aborted attempts at car chargers that don't charge worth a crap. I finally wound up using the AC charger with a power inverter (which I already have in my service van) to charge. Using nav and playing music, I couldn't keep up with the battery drain any other way.

Noticed the same thing just recently with my old BB charger that was 500mAh output and the 850mAh output adapter I had for something else.

Still looking for a good true 1A @ 5V car charger... PITA.
