I went to the store and complained that Im on my third Eris all with the same problems (silent bug, lag, etc). I told them I felt like I was being strung along, being told to wait for this update or that, which never came to my phone. They offered to swap my Eris for the Motorola Droid, Devour or BB Curve (which I hate). I told them if I wanted A Moto Droid I would have bought that and not the Eris. I dont know much about the Devour. They said they absoluetly cant swap it for an Inc or X which I expected them to say. So any thoughts?

I just received replacement #3 and it still lags and this one toggles between 3G and 1X way too much. Debating whether to be a broken record, at this point, I'll take the droid.

Take the Moto Droid, Froyo 2.2 on the Droid is great. :)

I'll talk to my wife, who has an Eris, but I don't think she would go for a Moto Droid. She likes the form factor/weight of the Eris compared to the Droid.

On the other hand, the silent call bug on the Eris is ridiculous.

+1

Swapping to the droid is probably the best decision ive ever made. The devour is basically the droid - root.

I am going thru the same thing as you. I talked to rep after rep after rep and finally got what I wanted. I was offered any phone I wanted that Verizon offered except the INC and said NO absolutely not. If you say the words "I threaten to leave you and take my service somewhere else" you will open up a few more doors. The CSR I talked to yesterday said each rep has a "Safe List" that comes into to play when the customer is upset and threatens to cancel service. I got my contract renewed and got my Droid X pre-ordered right then and there. Give it a shot!

I've tried the whole "I'm going to leave this because my phone and/or service is so horrible. I haven't tried it in store yet, though. I'd trade my Eris for a Moto Droid in a heartbeat. I'd do it only if I don't have to trade my next June upgrade, though.

if i were you i would get the droid ... it is faster and gets way more updates... the reason i got the eris over the droid is because of sense but i use adw now so the deciding facter is not canceled out bc adw works on the droid. if i could go back and do it again i would deff get the droid :/ i wish they were offering me one. i would take it in a heartbeat.

well i dropped my eris in the toilet by accident (no insurance, FAIL) so i ended up buying a moto droid out of pocket...i could not be happier. i could not wait for the X since i need my phone for work, also im not a fan of sense UI, so the fact that you cant turn it off on the INC made that a deal killer for me too.

i have to be honest and say wow the droid even in stock mode is a much faster phone. no lag ever, not when making calls, not while on the web, nothing. i do miss the form factor of the eris but the pro's outweigh the con's for sure.

you just convinced me. i love the eris form factor, size etc. but as a phone it really lacks.

plus i hear rooting the droid motorola is much easier.

I just convinced them to switch my wife's Eris for an Ally. I'm tired of her phone getting the silent bug constantly. They kept fighting with me about replacing it again with the same device. That's when I told them that someone recently brought to light a situation that I refuse to have happen, and that's my wife not being able to call 911 if she's involved in some accident. I said that I will cancel my service on the spot if they refuse to give me a device that works as a phone first and foremost. The rep then said he would work out the deal and call me back. He gave me his email address as well. I'm going to keep my Eris for now, but I will not have my wife be put in danger.
