Accessories Case with magentic latch - problem?

All,

I ordered a case from Top Quality Cell Phone, PDA & Ipod Accessories. The specific case, see here, is advertised as a) being for the HTC EVO and b) coming with a magnetic latch.

I received the wrong case - it has snap closures. I sent an email requesting that the proper case be sent and I received the following reply:

The EVO can not use the magnetic version, it affects the operation.
I suspect that this is nonsense. Can some one please let me know if a case with magnetic latches can be used.
Thx.

There is a possibility, however, I am skeptical about their answer too.

HTC Evo's have a capacitive screen, which works by detecting disturbances in a electrostatic field (here is a write up I did on PPC Geeks PPCGeeks - View Single Post - Capacitive Screen vs Resistive Screen)

Theoretically a magnet could also disturb the electrostatic field and change the "capacitance" readings. Meaning, the phone screen will think you are interacting with it when in reality it is a magnet in close proximity. If you just power off the screen before placing in said holster, there should be no issue.

I believe that magnets are the basis for the new Capacitive stylus that are being made.
