Help Can I change alarm sound/music?

Is there a way to change basic alarm sound on Incredible? I hate this tone that this phone wakes me up with. Anyway to change it to MP3 that I have on my phone?

Thanks for the great write up, only one problem I don't have the 3rd screen when I choose "alarm sound" where I can choose if I want music, system ringtone or current ringtone. My phone goes directly to alarm sounds screen where I see "beeps" "instance" "light" and other system ringtones.

You'll need to put the mp3 you want into the /media/audio/alarms folder in order for it to be on the list of selectable files.

Assuming you have music saved on the SD card; can you tell me what the file path and directory name is.

I'm using Verizon's Media Manager to sync media with my phone so my path looks like this.

/sdcard/vmm_music/

Actually, if you created a directory named "box" (it could be named anything really; squirrel, fingernail, etc.) in the audio directory (sdcard/media/audio/box/) any audio file in it would come up in the music option that is in the third screen above.
If you want the audio file to appear in the Alarm Sound list then what najaboy has said is exactly what you would need to do. BTW, the file types aren't limited to just .mp3. .aac, .amr, .ogg, .m4a, .mid, .mp3, .wav and .wma are all supported file types.

Or you can pick a song and set it as a ringtone, then you should see this in your ringtone list.

You shouldn't be trying to put it in the system folder. The file hierarchy that I listed should either be on your sd card or internal storage(/emmc if viewed using a program such as Astro). If the folders aren't there, just create them. Android will add the sound files contained in them to the appropriate list.
