Any luck with A2DP in car?

Seems like there are some issues and the install sounds cumbersome. Looks like it is meant for Clarion radios and any other use (like on my stock GM audio in port) is hampered.

I bought this device: Amazon.com: Motorola MotoRokr T505 Bluetooth Speaker Phone: Cell Phones & Service

That essentially achieves the same thing wirelessly.

In practice: FM transmitter is weak and requires fiddling on longer trips as you move in an out of different FM station ranges.

Not audiophile sound for streaming pandora - its ok but if you are Johnny boom boom - not for you. If you are 45 and half deaf sounds great!

Announces calls like any other bluetooth device with that capability, but you need the handset handy for anything but the simplest actions.

Install seems relatively easy as I'm pretty good with car installation. Looks like all I'd need to do is connect power and ground. My head unit takes RCA input, so that seems pretty simple as well. I'm not crazy about bluetooth speakerphones because I'd rather just have the sound go through my car speakers, which the one I posted appears to do. I just have a hard time spending $80 on something unless I can talk to some people who've had some real world testing with it.

^ Yeah, see, thats what I want. I use the aux plug in with my aux cable and all is just dandy. Only problem? Whenever I want to change the song, I have to pick my device up and change it from there. Im a careful driver; this is a no-no for me. Id much prefer to be able to control it from my car stereo 'next/skip' buttons.

Havnt figured out how to do this quite yet. Obviously what the above poster has linked would work. A friend of mine has a car stereo he bought that has AD2P support built into it and he is able to change songs on his Ipod Touch with his car 'next/skip' button. Hmm, then again, I dont recall if everything was wireless or if he plugged an aux in.

The "Stereo Gateway" product from Blackberry works extremely well too. The sound quality is absolutely pristine, the output levels are very high, an the connection is very reliable. These can be found on Ebay for about $40.

Do not buy the "Anycom FIPO" product that connects to iPod adapters. I ordered one, and the sound quality was terrible... something is wrong with their firmware.

Does this also function as a speakerphone? I'd like something that can function as both. If all I wanted was audio I'd just use the headphone jack but I'd love something that

1. Is wireless, so I don't have to plug anything in every time I get in the car.
2. Functions as a speakerphone, meaning built in mic and call audio routed to car speakers (output from the device could go to my aux jack)
3. Streams stereo audio so I can play my music

I can accomplish all of this easily by rigging up a wired connection but I'd love to not have to plug anything in. Currently I use a computer headset adapter for cell phones. Basically it's made for people who like their computer headsets and want to use them for their phones. It plugs into the headset jack, and has a mic input jack and an audio out jack. I plug a microphone which I have mounted in my car into the mic input on the cable, and I send the audio through my stereo aux input. It works fine, but I hate wires.

No, the Blackberry Gateway streams A2DP audio only. You can still connect a headset or other speakerphone device to the Droid simultaneously.

I just like this product because it can be installed behind the dashboard, allowing you to automatically connect and stream Slacker audio to the car stereo without any unsightly wires running across the seats or dashboards.

I hear the Kensington LiquidAUX system does a good job of providing A2DP and speakerphone capability, but it looks rather clunky due to the fact that it must be installed in a cigarette lighter, with a cable running to the aux jack of the stereo. Too much clutter for me.

Yeah I'm not crazy about the cigarette lighter install, which is why I was originally looking at the Clarion. My aux input is hidden behind my dash so I could run the cable easily behind the dash as well so that all that is exposed is the small controller with built in mic. I'm thinking about giving it a go as it seems so far to be the only thing to fit the bill. It's a bit pricey for me without hearing any first hand experiences though.
