ConsumerReports: dont get an iPhone

While I am definitely not an Apple fan (I don't even do iTunes :p), I do have to admit the iPhone ushered in a new tech era and should be given credit for that. Also, for the most part it has always been a reliable piece of technology.
What frustrates me is the over abundance of iPhone accessories in the stores and severe lack of Android accessories. I went to one big box store and there was a complete aisle of a wide variety of iPhone accessories and nothing for Androids. I suppose with the Android phones so fragmented whereas the iPhone it just one model that it easier for accessories. But still.

Even funnier, Apple is apparently censoring their support forums and deleting any posts that reference the CR article:

.EmailQuote { PADDING-LEFT: 4pt; MARGIN-LEFT: 1pt; BORDER-LEFT: #800000 2px solid } P { MARGIN-TOP: 0px; MARGIN-BOTTOM: 0px } BODY { SCROLLBAR-HIGHLIGHT-COLOR: #cecfce; SCROLLBAR-ARROW-COLOR: #3f52b8; SCROLLBAR-TRACK-COLOR: #fffbff; SCROLLBAR-DARKSHADOW-COLOR: #fafafa; SCROLLBAR-BASE-COLOR: #f7f7f7 } From engadget:

Consumer Reports has thrown down the gauntlet, stating that it "can't recommend" the iPhone 4 until the antenna issues are fixed, issues that its labs and ours have verified quite substantially. Apple apparently isn't happy about that, and has taken to deleting threads about the Consumer Reports article from its support forums. Now, Apple deleting threads from its support forums is nothing new; outside of "regular" moderation, the company routinely deletes discussion of hardware flaws that it's not ready to 'fess up to, or just generally negative lines of thought about its products.

Coming from the company that ran the famous "1984" TV advertisement, this is both ironic and sad.

I was thinking about the same thing this afternoon while looking for some sort of a dock for the Zune HD. Unless there is some sort of standardization especially in the area of docking we will never have a bedside dock for our Android phone.

Apple drops Consumer Reports/iPhone 4 discussion threads down memory hole

While I will give apple it's due, being it did jump start the mobile phone industry, and push the idea of what customers want in a smartphone.
I just cant support the "1984" type direction apple and fanboys take in general.
Deleting comments on support forum? As if it didnt happen? WOW
