Accessories Quest for the tightest thinnest EVO Case

I got a screen protector and a crystal case from Paw Avenue and both are totally awesome. The screen protector covers the full screen and is a perfect fit. Very easy to install, no bubbles, and best of all, no fingerprints! The case fits perfect, and keeps the camera lens off of surfaces. I did go with the red thinking it would accent the red on the back of the phone, I wish I had gone with the black now. Guess I'll order another one

edit: it's also worth noting that case-mate is now stocking something very similar. the main difference with the case-mate ones, though, is that it was designed to raise the camera, which these don't do.

I like that clear case! If only case-mate made the "barely there" cases in more colors than black and pink, i'd really like either a clear one or colored one, not just plain black. The ring around the camera on theirs is a very nice touch though. Thanks for the pics and mention of case-mate, think i'll order from them for better cam protection.

I didn't know Case-Mate Barely There cases were out yet. I want a pink one. are there cases good? So it's just a back no front? I don't like when the top and bottom of the front aren't covered but I love the color of that case. It looks nice!

I just ordered 2 from EPIK, one in white and one in green. I ordered a black one from Paw Ave yesterday. Can someone post impressions of the EPIK one soon as they receive it? I don't mind doing so but will have to wait at least 2 weeks for it :(
i'll post pics of mine when i get home. i ordered the red one. i've always been a huge fan of epik cases and this one is no exception. it's awesome. i have absolutely no problems with the power and volume buttons - they respond flawlessly. it's thin and tight, so i don't have any fear of dust. it's glossy, not sticky, so it glides in and out of pockets with ease.
i'll take pictures of it so you can see exactly what's covered.
one thing that should be noted (and it might be obvious) is that regardless of what color you get (except black), expect a darker shade of that color. even when colored, it's still sort of transparent, so the evo's black will come through.

i second that with a clear case from case-mate. that's exactly what i'd get lol. can't wait until they release the other ones though, specifically the tough case.

Yup. If case-mate makes a clear one, I'd purchase that for sure.

I ordered this one for now ($5 and some change, ships from USA). It's not as bare as the case-mates or cheap ebays, but i'll use it for the times when i want more protection around it. It also keeps the cam protected. I'm gonna wait a bit and see if case-mate starts selling a clear or colored barely-there case.

I got one of these. Not from the same seller but similar price and it's tpu. I imagine they're all the same on ebay.

BLACK Soft Gel TPU Hard Case Cover fr Sprint HTC EVO 4G - eBay (item 300440215923 end time Jul-23-10 09:04:08 PDT)

There are individual cutouts on the back like in the pic. It fits tighter than the silicone one I got on ebay and covers less of the edge of the screen which is nice. Even so it is raised above the screen to protect it when layed face down and it does protect the camera. It is also about half the thinness of the silicone case. I got the black, which is kind of a semi transparent smoke color. The only criticisms I have are that you feel the power and volume buttons, which are covered, less than you do on a silicone case and one side of the case has kind of a rough seam. Both minor issues. I like the case better than the silicone and for the price it's hard to beat. I think I'm going to get another in another color.
Have you received it yet? If so, how long did it take before they shipped? Just curious cause I ordered a couple of cases from the same seller, and I'm still waiting for shipment.

A good tip for anybody using those nice cheap ebay rubberized case that just clips onto the back sides of the phone (like the red one pictured in this thread).

remove your battery cover and use the case. Provides an even better fit, a slimmer profile, and the sides actually raise up a little more providing a little protection (i just dropped my phone face down on concrete with no damage). Also no worries about red dye rubbing off :)

I've been waiting for them to put out a case since I got my Evo. My friend has one on her iPhone and it is exactly what I want. Just the most basic of protection against scratches along the sides and back while keeping the camera off the table. They still say "coming soon" so I will be checking back every so often to see when they are available.

So I have read through this thread and trying to decide which case to buy to cover my naked evo, but since I have never used a case before on any of my other phones I have a quick question - do the inexpensive ebay cases (like the read one discussed a lot here) protect the corners of the phone very much? I can see that most of those hard clips barely cover the corners. I tend to drop my phone once or twice and so the corners of my phones always get scrapped and dinged up a bit. For those of you who have dropped phones with having these cases on...will the clip-ons be any use to me or should I go for a more silicon/gel protector case. Or does the Epik cover them very well?

Anyway.. I know most of these cases discussed are minimalist and not for total protection, but any answers to my questions would be greatly appreciated.

It covers the corners fine, it's the top and bottom edges that are exposed. The TPU (Epic) type cases offer better coverage all around but come in just over a millimeter thick. I'd take it over silicone any day. The one drop with the clip on gave me a ding in the top center of the phone and a big crack in the bottom left edge of the case. That's when I moved to the TPU case.

as promised, here are pictures of the red epik case.
Wow these look awesome! Too bad I ordered the Epik snap ons, it's probably gonna end up like the stupid cheap one I got from pawave.

For those of you looking into getting the hard back cases, if you have OCD like me and expect perfection from you phone, I wouldn't recommend it, because it goes on so tight and the corners are not smoothed out that it will chip the paint on the corners of your EVO. I would not recommend them no matter how cheap they are, I learned the hard way...

Ok thanks for the responses. So do I understand that there are two different kind of epik cases - a snap on and a TPU with better coverage? I can only see one kind of "epik" case that is sold and it appears to be a clip on. Isn't that what I am seeing here?

HTC Evo 4G- www.Degasis.net - Authorized Dealer of Epik Case Products for Smartphones - Blackberry Iphone Etc.

If so, could you maybe post a link to an epik TPU case that will offer better coverage? Thanks again.

That's link is what I got from ebay, but it was much less than $5.99, especially after the ebay bucks I had available.

I just git my black snap on case like mentioned in the first post. I ordered it from pawave and it got here fast and fits great. I had actually got so sick of trying to get the phone in and out of my pocket wih he sprint sikicone case kn thag the phone has been naked for the last week.

I must say that this case is anice option if you ussually like yiur phone wihout a case but want he camera somewhat. protected.

The TPU case from ebay seller pawavenue is awesome! For $7.95 shipped it's the best case of four I have tried to date. Auction title was "smoke check crystal skin gel case htc evo 4g". It's a perfect fit. Easy to press the power and volume buttons through the case, the screen is fully protected, so you can ignore calls by setting the phone face-down with no worry. Camera will not make contact when placed face-up either. I highly recommend this case. BTW, the pattern looks very nice and you can still easily see the HTC logo through it. It has a good feel that's grippy without being rubbery. I have several more cases to try, but I'm pretty sure this is the one I'll stick with.
