New EVO - Question regarding media

Hi all

I just got my EVO today and have to admit it's a littler overwhelming at first! Overall I think I am going to really enjoy the device once I get the hang of it (coming from an iPhone 3G).

I found an application that can sync my iTunes playlist (I used the following guide, except that I got the Mac program iTuneMyWalkman How to sync the HTC EVO 4G with iTunes - Know Your Cell) - if anyone has better options, please pass them along.

This leads me to my first question. The default Music program, when I sort my album, lists some albums multiple times. The difference with each "entry" is that it's a specific artist. So, for example, if I look at "Office Space Soundtrack", it's listed multiple times in the list, and entry is different parts of the soundtrack (based on artist, so one might have Geto Boys, the other another artist, etc). This happens with all my music (Michael Buble - Crazy Love is another example, since it has tracks that are "Michael Buble feat. *so and so*). How can I fix this? While we're at it, does anybody have any media players they would recommend that I use besides the stock?

Also, I know that certain applications cannot be removed, but are there ANY that can be removed that come with the phone? And how do I remove applications that I install on my own?

Does anybody have a list of "recommended apps", or tips and tricks links to get someone who is new to Android, and/or the EVO 4G, up to speed?

Finally, I tried adding my school email using the built in mail client (HTC's, I see that Gmail has it's own thing that's separate) and it keeps throwing out Security warnings (There are problems with the security certificate for this site. This certificate is not from a trusted authority.) and no matter how many times I click "continue" it just keeps popping up. Possible fix or a better mail client?

When you install a replacement SMS or mail client or whatever, how does it affect the built in stuff? I wouldn't get like, two notifications or anything would I? Obviously on the iPhone I had no choices - I HAD to use the built in stuff whether I liked it or not. How does this work?

Is it possible to backup things like SMS's and application data in case of a hard reset? I know Contacts/Calendars/Gmail are synced via Google.

I appreciate your help. Thanks!

Yes, but I didn't want to get an iTunes replacement, just something that would sync what I already have. I actually found a replacement, called Sailing Media Sync, that seems to work well, though it's free version has some limitations, nothing to limit it actually doing it's thing.

The major issue right now is the e-mail issue. Everytime I try to add my schools email, I get that certificate error and there is no way to ignore it or bypass it. Is there a setting somewhere I can go to so that it'll ignore those types of errors or I can force it to trust the certificate?

Thanks.

Yes, you can add it to the trusted list via your browser.

Right now I am using iTunes to sync my iPod, then I use Double Twist to sync with iTunes and send it to my Evo. Not the most practical way, and syncing a few songs can take 5-10 minutes. But it keeps my media in sync for free.

I don't see where to add websites...but that just might be an oversight. I did disable alerting me about security completely but it still came up. I might just try another mail client - I hear good things about K-9? It's weird having two email clients...stock Gmail and then whatever else I end up using for my IMAP accounts.

I'll look into some options for that - I have Double Twist installed. Thanks.
